Best intake
Best intake
i knoe that there are a lot of venders but i was wondering which one is the best. i talked to someone at ford svt and i asked him y hte new L's have more power then the 2000 and he said that its mostly due to the intake and the gear raito i think thats what he said not sure on the gear thing. But i was just wondering if i should get the new intake system on the 2002 or go after market. this is my first truck and i dont want to make a mistake. i just want to buy the right intake system for my L
thanks
thanks
The only differences between 01-02s and 99-00s is that:
99-00 have 3.55 gears
01-02 have 3.73 gears
99-00 have 80mm MAF and a moderate tune
01-02 have 90mm MAF and a more aggressive tune.
The intakes are the same.
Enough said.

There are several posts that can be found by using the search option at the top right of your page.
Anyways, definately go aftermarket...I do not know which other intake you are talking about (There is no additional option) The 2001 had a larger Mass Air Meter (90mm) than the 2000 (80mm) which may be what you are talking about. But if you get a 2001 or newer L...you will get this no matter what.
You can still get an aftermarket intake or FIPK (This is the first step to retrieving air which is then sent to MAM and throttle body and then to intake manifold) Several companies which you can choose from include K&N, Volant, and Air Force 1. You can also look at the Lightning Tuners websites which I have listed. Check those pages out. They have everything you will need to get your truck into the 11's.

First of all...you can order that same intake from the F150online store for cheaper and support the website at the same time.
Several people use this intake and are happy with it. I would personally go with either the AF1 (because it looks awesome---all chrome) or one of the intakes from the tuners such as JDM.
Gains are minimal---around 6-8 RWHP if you are lucky (I think)
