#8 pulley and #10 pulley

Where to get them. I think JL made a #10. Does anybody know?

Do you need to start changing things in the engine(inside) if you go bigger then #6?

Thx

I know JLP is/was making 8# and 10# pulleys. I have the 8# pulley on now. (need to get the L back together so I can try it) The "built" motor is a must with this much boost. If anything else the heads will lift without the ARP head studs. When I took apart my old motor I could see on both heads had lifted in the middle wearing out the gasket. I only had a 6# pulley on at the time. (stock exhaust)

I run a 10lb lower and 1.5 upper on a built motor. I wouldn't go about a 6# lower on stock internals.

Are you still running the Eaton blower. If so what kind aof extra cooling are you doing to battle all the heat. IC fans?? Supercooler? Water Injection? All of the above??

From that info, I maybe just maybe the Ford engineer that told me the problem lies in the top of the 5.4 block flexing and not the bottom end being weak may be the real problem with the added boost.
Although there's never anything wrong with tearing it down and going through it yourself.

Question 8-10 lbs on Stock Eaton???

Like Soap commented, 8-10 lbs more boost on a stock Eaton puts you way outside the efficiency curves. At these levels you are creating more heat than power...unless you are using nitrous to cool the charge. Would any of the Tuners care to comment on this??

I will be cooling it down with a shot of nitrous. Will also post any gains without. Looks like I will be going to the track (Atco) on Friday.

Whatever happened to 500 lb pulley you were running last summer? The picture is missing from this thread:

Did the highway department give you grief for ripping up the asphalt?

10# (That's sick!)

Blackjack seems right...this is a little too much to efficiently make power.

Thumbs up

Regardless of the efficiency of the 10# it netted me and another friend with an 99 L a little over a tenth in the 1320 Believe me there is a BIG difference!!! If anyone orders a 10 be careful on the street as it will make your L a real handful Going from the 6 to the 10 felt like the difference from a stock pulley to a 4#, simply unbelievable!!

I'm not sure about the effeciency, that doesn't really matter to me. If I add a larger pulley and I get more power that's all that counts. I'm sure a 5lb pulley is worth xx HP and installing the 10lb is only worth x additional power, but there is an increase.

At the mod shootout I ran a 12.0 and the temps were almost or over 100 degree's at the track. This is with a conservative street chip, not the race chip.
