Question Autometer install done

I am allmost done installing the new Autometer Full Sweep Electronic Boost Guage.

I need to find a switched 12 Volt source that maintains power during engine cranking.

This is what it said in the instructions
"connect the red power wire to a switched + 12 volt source that maintains power during engine cranking. Most vehicals break the electronic connection to accesories while the engine is being started. If the guage is connected to one of these circuits, the auto zero funtion will not work propperly and inacurate reading will result."

So if anyone knows where to tap into a switched source that will not break the circuit while cranking let me know.

Thanks

Don

here is the pic of the new guage

I'm sure that your brain for the gauge is under the dash etc.........grab the wire at the key with a fuse holder.

Just incase, off the top of my head, yellow is 12v bat, red/blue starter, grey/yel or red/blk heater/ac/acc, hot while cranking red/green. I'm having a brain fart at the moment but a quick test with a light will double check that.

Test lights and airbags are not a good combination. Use a meter that way you won't inadvertently set off the air bags.

C'mon, Don knows better then to play with all that yellow loom/plugs etc under the dash..........

Like cornercarver said, a meter is safer to use, should really be the only thing to use. I won't mention test light ever again, sorry.

Thanks for the replies

I would rater go into the fuse panel, that way I won't have to wory about the air bags.

I think I will go to my friends car audio shop tomorow. They know what they are doing a lot more than me. Yes the MAP sensor is now mounted under the dash.

Keep the ideas coming

Don

Question

Don
Why did you choose to go with the electronic boost gauge and not mechanical like most of us use myself included. Will it give you a more accurate reading?

Hey Vin

I did have a mechanical phantom gauge, but it was defective. It never centered itself and the needle would stick going up or down. I went to Autometers web page to look up the customer service phone # I talked to a tech guy and was told it was not a uncomon problem. When and saw the new guage I decided to give it a try.

The guage I have is 5777, and the pod is a autometer part also. I don't have the Part # for the pod, but it must be painted.

Try 15304 for the Pod

I got them both at sumitt, the guage was just under $200
