Sound deadening...

www.b-quiet.com

I got 100 square feet of extreme (30lbs) and 27 square feet of Ncomp foam (27lbs).

The foam will replace the stock jute on the carpet, so it won't be any/much additional weight.

Between the foam and the mat, I should be able to cut close to 30db of noise out of the cab, that should tame the long tubes a bit

I'll install this weekend and let everyone know how it goes.

Do take some pictures.

It's like watching a c-section... Everybody goes, "Ewwwwww"!

Be sure to keep a hair drier handy and a little paint roller if you have one.

Coldie--You mentioned "N" Comp, but I do not see it in their website. Was that supposed to be "V" Comp?

doh.

Yup. V-Comp. The L comp is a good bit better (2-4db of noise kill) but they are out for a while and I wanted to get this in this weekend.

Hair drier? bah! I've got a nice industrial heat gun. Let me tell you, using that thing on the Mercedes the day after we got it made me a bit nervous (removing the AMG badges)

Yea, I hear ya. I use the heat gun to remove factory decals on a lot of superbikes.I think its a notch below a propane torch!

Funny story...

The Mercedes salesman was completely stumped as to why I wanted to REMOVE badges. He said the first thing most young people do is run to the parts store and BUY AMG badges...

Now's it's a nice black car with a front and back emblem and 350hp under the hood. Just like I like 'em.

wildly off topic...

But the Mercedes is "only" a C32, so 349HP stock. It's way to expensive to do anything to the engine (you thought Lightnings were a small market!)

Watch a hip-hop video some time. They like shiny things. If they can't have the real thing, the badge on a gold necklace is good enough.
