Unhappy Free Horsepower...almost

Watched horspower TV on sunday. Royal purple challenged the guys that using there product would result in hp gains on the dyno. Engine, transmission, and differential were treated on a camaro.(2000 I think) Baseline rwhp=302 Royal purple treatment=310rwhp, minutes later. any opinions??

That oil is very thin. That is where the horsepower comes from. If you change your oil often it is ok. But for me I will stick to Mobil 1, or Motul 300V Power. Thin oil = more horsepower but less protection and lower oil pressure. I hope this helps

Out of curiosity, what viscosity oil was used? I'll just stick with Redline 5w30 for now unless someone proves otherwise..........

I saw that show too. Thtat sucks if you have to change your oil more if you use it. Royal Purple around here is about $7 a quart

Our Ls come from the factory with 5W20. 5W20 is 5W20. 5W30 is 5W30. RP 5W20 is not 'thinner', it's better--than 5W20 dino oil.

Why would you want to change from RL? It's one of the best there is.

Mobil 1 has proven to be "better".

Anyhoo, RP is not thinner. It's GREAT oil. Try it.

I don't know where you got your info from but it's definately not better than RL. RL, Motul are category V lube's. Mobil 1 is a category III. It has to do with the esters in the basestocks that are so important to an oil. Royal Purple falls into the hydrowax category I believe.
