The clunk. Fords fix

I am taking the truck in for the IC recall and was going to get the clunk taken care of also. I think Ford uses a star washer. Has anybody had good results with Fords fix?

Thanks
Laurence

I had mine fixed in Feb or March , About 2 mos. now its louder then it was. And I now see a little ware on the outside passenger tire. So I will now use Herbs Washers and get a new alighment when I get my tires hope this helps.

JMHO, Ford's fix is only temporary and less than adequate.

Make sure to tell Junebug that Cooter and Gomer need to torque the shizznit out of the control arm bolt. Yes, together.

I had my 01 fixed by Ford at 800 miles or so. It already had the star washers from the factory. They were placed on top of the waxy looking undercoat and of course slipped. They ground it off and had Cooter and Gomer torque the shizznit out of the control arm bolt. ( Sorry, Speedin Bob that was to good not to copy )
However, it is now clunking again. So, I ordered some DL Washers. Will install them soon.

Speedin Bob is correct. It is only temporary. You can either weld it or get some of the washers that will hold it in position. Either way, make sure you get it aligned.

David,

No problemo...

Cooter, Gomer, Junebug, Daisy May, et. al. provide us with appropriate mental imagery of SOME of the caliber of individuals we must endure, or something.

bottom line, buy washers and a cam bolt kit and be done with this mess. money well spent.

Thumbs down

My dealerships idea of the fix was to grease the steering stops. Well lets just say it was clunking when I left the parking lot there. Now it sounds like the whole front end on the truck is falling apart. I brake it makes noise. I don't even turn the wheel all the way and it makes noise. Steven's Ford service sucks!!!!!!! Biggest bunch of azzholes I have ever dealt with. -Mat-
