aftermarket rims-weight-performance

Hi everyone this is my first time posting on this site.
I have an 01'L and i'm looking at aftermarket rims. I love the american racing torque thrust 2's. The stock rim and tire combo is heavier than hell. What is everyone's idea on aftermarket weight. I know Boyd coddington and colorado custom and weld evo's use really high tech forging to keep weight down on their 20's. Show some pics and tell me the differences in weight between you new rims and stockers. I want performance but don't want to lose performance. Also it seems people go to 20's and does the rolling circumference change drastically and how do you fix it?

Thumbs up Great looking wheel!!

Does anyone know anything about these B. Coddington, Truck wheels? These look mavalus, but I'm not real sure that the back-spacing and bolt pattern will work. I would certainly be disapointed in discovering these wheel poked 4 " outside of the fender well's, like the ricer slugg riggs do Check this wheel out! Just in case the link does not work, the name of the wheel is "Spanker"

The factory wheels are 18x9.5" with a 5.8" back space, and a 5x135mm bolt pattern. The 99-00 version weigh 26lbs each, the 01-02 version weigh 32lbs each. You will have a very hard time finding a 20" wheel to weigh equal or less.

A little FYI about Coddington,

Mr. Coddingto does have some very creative designs, However I will personally never buy a single item from which he receives profit. A street rod builder from the late 70's, he started his own business. In the 90's when the economy got tough and he couldn't pay his bills, he took the company public with regards to issuance of stock. His business ethics and management practices did not change and he declared bankruptcy in a very fast, unannounced overnight move. Hundreds of car people who he personally "sold" and "recruited" to invest in his company lost thousands of dollars, what little was left was used to pay of creditors, while Coddington walked away from what otherwise would have been his own personal responsibility- he became just an employee of the company. Mr, Coddington used to be seen alot on the covers of numerous car mags...but no more, because of the hurt and distain I suspect was caused to many people particularly in Southern California.

The new company is run by his son. So far so good. Most importantly, the wheels are top notch.

He could not establish credit with suppliers, that is why his son is the "Official Owner"....remember two things..

1. The apple never falls far from the tree and if the son does not agree with or desire to engage of similiar business activities, then why is his father his business partner?

2. While the quality of the products are good, the present as in the past, one item repacement parts take forever to get...basically when they "Feel" like producing it. I know of two people who have been or are presently in this situation.

His son as well as himself are austricized at most events in So Ca, not so much by the events staff, but by the participants and visitors who know the family, their reputation and their distain.

It's like having someone warn you about a corrupt car dealer, yet you go to them anyway. You are either supporting their unethical operation which allows others who may be less fortunite than yourself to become severely hurt or you yourself become a victim.

just my opinion.....

Thanks beechkid,
I too am a dinosour and believe in ethics, values, and integrity.
As for Mr. Coddington............I'll do plenty more investigation before he would get one penny of my money.

Seems like a matter of principle, eh? If you contribute
to his company, you are condoning what went before.

Jest my $.02 .....

Here you go. I love 'em. I have not put them on a scale, but my back tells me they are lighter than the stockers.

That is what i needed to see. That's exactly is what i want mine to look like. Mine is black also and i've never seen them on a truck. Actually i n ever have seen torque thrust 2's on anything. WHAT SIZE ARE THE RIMS AND WHAT SIZE ARE THE TIRE. WHAT IS THE ROLLING DIAMETER OF THE NEW RIMS AND ARE YOUR THRUSTS TOTAL CIRCUMFERENCE LARGER THAN THE STOCKERS? You made my day with this picture!!!
Thanks alot, J-mart
