Unhappy Fuel pump may have gone bad

Well you guys were right..I think my problem was fuel related..For those that didn't see my earlier post, My truck died on me the other day..I took off from a light and it just shut off and cut back on..rode a few more blocks and it kept skipping bad like it was trying to run out of fuel..Towed it to the dealer and he checked for codes. My MAF sensor was the problem which was just replaced today. Well the truck didn't skip or bogg anymore but when the tech took it on a test run and he told me it died on him a few times also..He told me other than that it ran fine..He checked my fuel pressure and it registered 10psi and he told me the max was 75psi. So now my fuel pump is shot and 350 buckaroos for a new one. I told him to just check the hoses in the tank that connects to the fuel pump first like you guys suggested. I know LIGHTNINROD says that the 99s and 00s are known to have this problem. So thats what he's doing now and i'm waiting on the call ..Now i'm up to 800 bucks and the tech told me he'd eat the labor (I wonder why?? but not complaining). Hopefully it would be the loose disconnected clamps...Has this ever happened to anyone? A fuel pump and MAF gone bad?

Before I would pay for those stock fuel pumps I would get the High volume ones that Sal offers....

The fuel pump hose problem happened on my 2001. So it is not just 99-01's. The line to one of the pumps had a 3/4" split in it. Naturally I replaced both pumps with Sals dual 255's.

Did you get the sensor from this mechanic? If so I would say you bought a sensor for nothing. I could be wrong but why keep the sensor when your problem is a fuel pump. Drain it..drop the tank...change the pump yourself. It ain`t that hard. Did he give you the old sensor. Put it back in and see if it works after the fuel problem is fixed. If it is the hoses blown off the pump talk to the Service manager and inform him it is a known problem and see if he will fix it. Used to be a Ford Service Manager could authorize something like $1500.00 in repairs after the warranty ran out. If the customer paid 10%. Ford may pay if it is the hose.. As for the sensor...seems funny they installed a new one and the problem persisted. Don`t yah think?
