all i got to say is... Z06 what....... C5 wh0... i eat them for lunch....

 

Since I have one of each I had to reply to this thread. I have just broke the Z06 in so I don't have a track time yet, but I know this, stock for stock it is no contest, the Z will out accelerate, out turn, and out stop the L without breaking a sweat. Now the L does respond to Mods extremely well and not many vehicles get the horespower boost per dollar you can get with the L. The L is also much easier to drive than the Vette, my wife can knock down 13.2s all day long in the L, the same is not true for the Z06.
Each has it's own strengths (you can't tow a boat with the vette ) and each is built with a different purpose in mind. I agree with the comment about Corvette drivers in general, most just want to be seen in a Corvette and don't know a d@mn thing about driving, but there is a percentage that are hard core drivers and would sell out there mom for an extra tenth. Z06 drivers usually fall into the latter category.

 

There was another newer 405 zo6 at the track friday in decent air running 13.30's so i told him it was driver error lol and he said he was a good driver.hmmmmmm
Later that night during bracket racing with the temp below 80,he managed to get his et down to 12.70's lol.
Sweeeeeet car and for the 43k he paid[chevy employee price] i would take a zo6 over a 03 cobra any day of the week...that being said there is nothing more fun to beat down the 1320,except for those 14 second,doctor/laywer owned vipers/garage queens.

 

I raced a 2002 c5 vert on Monday. The guy was talking a lot of *****. I told him lets roll up to 40mph then go. He said alright, I was about 4 car lengths a head of him and kept pulling away from him. After the race we stoped and talked. He could not get over how fast my truck was. Just to let everyone know I love vettes. I own a 1999 with a 415cid stroker motor.
