Question Auto Meter new electronic Boost Guage??

Is anyone using Auto Meters new full sweep electric Boost/ Vacuum gauge yet?

I have one on order, since the Phantom guage I just got is defective and is getting returned. It looks like a much better design and has some nice extra funtions. The one I really like is the peak recall function, that way I can see just how much boost I made durring a 1/4 mile run.

I will let you know how it works when I get it on next week.

I have the 30hg vac - 20 psi Boost Ultra lite gauge. It is great. Super quality, and always dead on. Not bad for $49.00

guages

guages are next on my list. My buddy has phantom guages in his camaro, looks good. Real good actually. The lunar guages have been held up because they had problems with the electroluminsomething or other. I'll steer clear of those, unless it takes me alot longer to order my stuff up and i've heard they've been holding up. The biggest drawback is the fuel pressure guage. To mount it in the cab it's like 250 bucks!!!!

Hey Don,

Whats the Autometer part # of that gauge? I like the option of knowing the peak boost. Sounds cool. Im gonna be adding a gauge pod to my truck pretty soon, as soon as I decide what other 2 gauges to go for. Im not so sure. What other gauges do you all recommend?

I have the Phantom 5703 right now, but it has never worked right. It does not center itself, and it sticks. Sometimes it tells me I am making 15-16 lbs of boost other times I can't even get 13 lbs.

The one I ordered is the 5777

I ordered it through summit for just under $200.00 shipped, and I am sending the defective 5703 back to them.

Thumbs up It's here

Must have arrived while I was away this weekend.

It looks like it should be a pritty easy install. You can see the MAP Sensor on the right, where the vacuuum line attaches. Then the wire harness goes between the MAP sensor to the guage.

Will let ya all know how it works.

Thumbs up Installed it today

It is on and working awesome

Here are some pics

Guage, peak boost function

Power Hookup, it has to be connected to a switched 12Volt circuit that doesn't shut off while the starter engages. So this is where you have to hook it up.

MAP Sensor, that senses barimetric presure when you start the truck, and vacuum line to the MAP sensor.

I only made one quick ride with the new guage, but it allready shows at least 1 more lbs of boost, and works much smoother.

The install was real easy, don't let all the wires intimidate you. There are only two real wires to hook up, power and ground. They give you about 5-6 feet of wires, but you only need about 3 feet. I shortened it up by looping a few feet of it up and taping it together, than I covered it in the plastic wire loom supplied in the kit.

The only thing I had to buy was a fuse holder a one amp fuse, and the 90 degree rubber boot where I Teed off the factory boost line, the T was supplied. The boot supplied wanted to bend and cut off the boost to the MAP sensor.

I tried a few different places for the MAP sensor, the spot I put it worked perfect, it has to be mounted upside down, and in that spot you can use the shortest hose possible. Also it is out of the rain and the heat of the engine, so it should be the most accurate there.

I think you will like the new guage.

Good luck with the install

Vinnie the mechanical guage is real easy, just make sure you get the little ball that holds the hose to the back of the guage in straight.
