question for Gen1 guys about towing

ok right now i have a 94 f150 with an inline 6 and a 5 speed i bought it to tow my race car around and i had to sell my daily driver to get it. while its a really nice truck its just damn slow and i want something with more pep. i really like the gen1 lightnings but im curious to know how well the trannys in them hold up to towing? i imagine a good tranny cooler and a shift kit will do good but i need to know if it something i can rely on? i will be doing a lot of towing with it. i have not had much luck with automatics

I pulled all the time with my gen 1 L. Had no problems. I believe it came from the factory with the trans cooler and all necessary hardware to pull. I even heavily loaded the bed of mine and hooked my boat onto it. Drove it hard that way many times. No problems in 43,000 miles before I sold it.
