ATTN: Madhouse and BlkBanshee...Mac

just got my Mac in yesterday...two questions?:

MADHOUSE, Blkbanshee and Other Mac installers: if you see this....Madhouse u said u had some trouble gettin the old exhaust off and the Mac doesnt' quite line up somethin bout cutting the bolt, etc.....i have but a small toolbox and just little old me installin...anyone else have these probs and are these simple probs i can get through or am i in for a nightmare....

next question....always heard the warning..give a new vehicle "break in time" before you get on it real hard or do too much work on it....

any truth in this....my L is 02...new with only 550 miles on it...i doubt if exhaust will fall in this but other mods might?

Sorry for the delayed reply - I've been in San Antonio since Thursday...

I don't think exhaust will have any ill effect on your truck due to the newness of it. Especially since it's just a cat-back.

Where I was talking about the trouble with the stock stuff was...

When you take the stock muffler off, it's clamped to the exhaust pipes and sometimes those clamps are on so tight that they actually pinch the inlet tubes of the muffler and the exhaust pipes together and make a ridge. This is where it's hard to remove the muffler, since liquid wrench isn't enough. I had to cut two slits in one of the inlet tubes and peel back some metal to get it off the piping. If you take this approach, be careful not to cut into the piping itself.

Good luck, man. Yell if you have any trouble!

San Antonio huh...little vacation on the riverwalk!?

well, installed the Mac today...had same trouble...took some work but got the stock off in one piece, then ended up havin to cut the spacer arm too cuz the new exhuast didn't quite line up....d*** angle on the new pipe inlet

one question...after standin back to look...couldn't get the tips to line up or go on real straight...little close for comfort on the backside (closest to the rear wheel) maybe 1/8" space between it and ground effect...plus u can tell where its out a little further on the front pipe and backed in a bit on the back...but i pulled/pushed wiggled everything..couldn't get em right....maybe it's just me

u have the same prob?...i'm thinkin of takin it to a muffler shop and seein what they can do. i'll try to get some pics to send.

Yup, 5th anniversary. We stayed at the Westin Riverwalk. As you know, the weather flat-out sucked but we had a good time regardless.

When I put mine on, I was actually shocked, because the tips went on easy as pie and fit in a great location in the opening. Just lucky, I guess. I think it was alot easier to put the tips on after the muffler was fitted than it would've been if we had put the tips on first. I would suggest that you loosen the clamps on the tips and have someone standing beside the truck position them, then hold them firmly in place while you re-tighten the clamps. Make sure your clamps are pointing either forward or backward, so the slits in the tips can close down on the pipe and they won't budge at all. I haven't even had to adjust mine, and they've been on there over a week now.

BTW - do you run with that TALON crowd, or are you too far out of town? Watch out for those boys....

well, congrats on the 5th anniv...yeah..the weather left a little to be desired...

I think i may know what my prob is....first off...when i ordered the exhaust..he had the muffler in stock...but the tips were backordered...it took some work to get em on had to pry the muffler pipes apart at that welded hanger.....it's either the tips weren't made real well....or ......

on the front of the Mac...when u put it over the pipes from the cat...the one pipe (from the cat) has a weld bead around it..where the stock exhuast was pushed all the way up tooo...did u get the mac to slide all the way to this weld?....mine fell 1/4" to 1/2" short...but when i looked at the shaft compared to the stock...it didn't seem like i would go all the way in

this could be the prob with the tips huggin the backside of the skirt...the 1/4" would help alot

Mine actually didn't make it all the way to that bead either. Like yours, it fell about 1/4" short. Maybe the hanger needs to be moved to get the tips in the right spot.....
