Installed JLP Traction Bars!

I had a chance to play around a little in the truck w/ my new JLP traction bars and they hook up great. I'll have my first runs on them at the track this weekend. See you at Cecil.

JohnnyLightning Store

The store states that they aren't priced yet and not in stock, but you can give him a call. He has them available, just confirming pricing depending on powdercoating, etc.

I also have the JLP traction bars. Just installed them yesterday. They are very nice quality and very heavy duty. The brackets were made just for the Lightning. I will post my findings on Monday. Will be using them tonight and all weekend at ModMotorShootout!

Here are some pics! I painted the bars silver, will need to go over them again.

How about the results. Do these things work? Are those adju$table shocks required?

Let me know what you would like to see and I will take a pic. As far as performance. I still need to test them. So far they seem to work well but can not tell for sure as I had a bad head gasket. I am all fixed and ready to test this weekend @ Englishtown.

I have some results. An exellent 60' for me after my motor work and larger pulley was in the 1.8 range, normally around 1.9-2.1. I installed the JLP bars and had consistant 1.6x 60's at the mod shootout. They were 1.61, 1.62, and I believe 1.64 respectively.

I have a Bassani exhaust and 1.5/2" drop and it clears the exhaust well.

Lightbulb Few questions...

Couple questions for you:

1. Before you installed the traction bars, what tires were you running on to get 1.8 60 fts.???

2. Were you running at the same track with the same tires both before and after the traction bars were installed??

3. If so, were track and weather conditions similiar???

4. What size pulley(s) are you running on your truck??

5. Do you have a higher stall torque converter??

6. Are you running Nitrous??

The reason I ask these questions is because something is not adding up....gaining 0.2 seconds in your 60 fts??? Because of traction bars???

Thanks

Scott

Same track, same tires, hotter temps, more boost. Yes, with good traction more boost will give you better 60's. However, more boost will also give less traction. Therefore, more boost and traction bars gave me better 60's.

And the confidance to put the hammer down and know that the driveshaft will stay connected.

Congratts on the new 60 foot times.

Yes....

More Boost and better traction will yield better acceleration....how MUCH more boost were you running???? I have run 1.84 60 fts at Cecil with NO traction modifications(i.e Traction Bars or Shocks) with a 4 lb lower pulley with Stock exhaust. I now have the 12 way Adjustable QA1 shocks installed since then. How much would adding traction Bars help with all things being equal??
