My 01 with a 2# lower pulley and chip made 385-390HP consistantly at the dyno using SAE corrected numbers!

I have already dynoed the electric fan&waterpump along with the throttle body and you can expect a total of 8-10HP more from those mods!

What year truck?

Assuming 01 and up ,and again assuming a street program then 370-375 and 390-395.Not enough info.
My 01 dynoed a 4# at 393,But no elec fan,pump or T.B.
You should be somewhere between mine and High rollers #s.

All engines respons differemtly is the moral of the story. With a 2lb, BABolt T/B, JDM J7 program and longtubes (by themselves worth 7 rwhp at the peak), and the JDM intake I dynoed at 400.0 and 483 rwtq. Stock my horsepower was 355/420.

Bottom line is you will love and feel the difference the combo makes.

Bad news is like most of us, you'll want more!

PS - Don't be afraid to go to a 4lb pulley. I'm running a 6 now without any trouble. JDM will get you a safe tune with the bigger pullies.

I don't see why everyone says that. I am comtemplating more boost but it is the amount of power that breaks rods not knocking (that fries pistons).

Am I way off here or not.........

BTW......I also have a JDM chip and have dynoed my A/F readings so I know my tune is safe and making a lot of power. Just wanted to be clear that I am not knocking Jim's tuning ability.........since everyone has to be soooooooo clear now of what they say

Joe,
I know we have talked about this before but my opinion on this is not so much the HP but mostly in the tune of the chip. There are guys that have thrown rods with 2# and 3# pullies that were most likely only making 380-390HP at the rear and others that are running 5# and 6# pullies and a upper racing every weekend and so far no problems with there trucks. If you have your tuner keep your air-fuel around 11.4 to 11.8 and not go to aggressive on your timing i believe on most of our trucks the stock bottom end will hold up with 5 or 6# of boost with a good tune!

sorry.... 02 motor. Street program for everyday driver...

brand new truck so I don't want to get carried away with the mods until I have had it for some time.

2lbs over stock L boost allows the chip tuner to let the factory OEM computer keep the a/f at 11.8. At 4 lbs over, adjustments have to be made via the chip... Or at least so the tuners have told me...

thanks.

Ken,
Sorry to hear about your motor There are many variables that can and will come into play when a motor goes and is hard to really pinpoint what really caused it! I always have my airfuel monitored regulary because the weather can really affect a chips fuel and timing parometers.I would be lying if i did not admit that it makes me nervous with the boost i am running on stock bottom but to many of my friends are running as much or more boost than me for some time now with good tunes on there trucks with no problems.Did ford cover your motor and are you going to mod your new motor or leave it stock?

beleive this or not , i have a 99 lightning with a # 6 and a #2 upper, well tuned chip, and some other bolt ons and have never had any problems. my friend has a 2000 and he does not like to spend money. he has a #6 and a #2 and his truck is bone stock all the way down to the stock platinum plugs, no chip ,no bolt ons.he has also had no problems and he has been running this setup for over a year. the funny thing is, his truck continues to run rich and mine does not, so he might be just as safe.
