Thumbs down Fake L's???

The past few days while out of town I seen more FAKE Lightning's than I have ever seen! With the exception of the trip home I didn't see a single real L.

I seen a crew cab lowered with 01-02 rims, a black 150 with L 99-00 rims, a red sport with Lightning fender badges, the list goes on and on...

Maybe I am weird, but it pissed me off when someone came up to me at a gas station and said, "Wow man you even bought the seats!" and I said, "What do you mean? All gen 2's have these seats." He says, "So, how much were the seats?" I said, "Like I said they came with the truck, It's a real Lightning" and he smirked and walked away like I was stupid or something. WTF????

I drove through the Wal-Mart parking lot after that and seen 7 trucks with 'something' Lightning on them, one even had Lightning stickers like from the 93-95 L on the tailgate, AND back window, and had a "Nite" sticker on the sides under the F150 badge!
I wish I had my camera with me then!

This happened on Sunday and it still bothers me...

Why all the fakes? Anyone else seen this 'trend' popping up?

After he did that your suppose to go and lay down some rubber through the parking lot for him.

I see a trend popin up. I see a lot of ppl w/ trucks that look like L's I saw one a few months ago. Had everything on it L except he hadn't put L badges on it yet. Still had F-150 ones.

I was gonna put the Lightning airdam on my truck be I don't think I'm gonna be doing it anymore. Too many ppl have it.

hey intel486,,, got with the harley front airdam and grill,,, in my opinion it matches a regular f150 better, and looks very nice, and also isn't lightning per say,,, not many people would recognize that its actually from a harley and in my own opinion it looks very nice, a guy that comes into my store has this done and its very nice.

I have yet to see any fake L's and do not mind if they want to install the ground effects and such, as long as the badges stay off.

My only gripe was with a guy at a local stereo store. He asked if I had done the body work and added the side pipes. He said thats a nice 1997. I realize that the 97's had the side exhaust and they changed in 1998 (I actually had a previous 1998 Ext. Cab 4x4) with the new exhaust behind the wheels.

I told him that was off the showroom and it is a 2002. He would not believe me until I showed him the window sticker.

I did see a regular F-150 with Harley badges on the tail gate. A Mustang GT with Cobra, SVT and GT badges on the rear and sides (Rear bumper was still the Mustang GT)

i used to always see a guy with a black f-150, similar wheels to the L's, side exhaust, and the Lightning emblems. Only once was I driving my truck when I saw him, and I made sure to let him know it was a REAL L.

Hehehe.

Hey, I got my real '99 Lightning called a 'fake' by an enthusiast on this board!!! (Some dufus named 'Thor01' ) And I posted my build number in my signature, and it's verifiable through NLOC, SVTOA, and SVT/FORD directly. There's just so many fakes out there that some people (intelligent enthusiasts aside) refuse to believe when they see a real McCoy.

Happens all the time. That's why I refuse to go with the Lightning look when I mod this new truck. Hell, I love the Harley F150 look, but probably won't go that way either because I don't wanna hear all the mudslinging about how I'm trying to be a Harley Davidson poser.

Later,

WrongdayJ

Wink

I have a Harley Davidson tonneau cover on my Lightning, so that makes me a poser too.

It really doesn't bother me if people put the Lightning package on other F-150's or on the Expeditions. I think they look much better that way, as far as the emblems go, I don't know, that might be crossing the line a little. The bottom line is it is their vehicles to do with what they want, until we make the payments for them we should let them do what they want to their vehicles.
