Wolff ... now you're on to something ... in that case, the dealership may decide to be "real" about it, and they would take care of the problem. Great insight man -- thanx alot!

Also have them ck the diff for water It wuld be very hard for water to only get into the trans and not the diff. And I can't believe that they would change the diff fluid and not the trans too.More than likely your heat exchanger in the rad is the originator of the problem.Stan

Like said before a faulty radiator can cause water to get into the trans. What water does to a tranny is it cause the clutch material to fall of the plates making the plates go metal to metal. I have seen it several times. Sorry for your misfortune. -Mat-

I replied to this once on NLOC but something just occurred to me. If they really did a full inspection before you bought it andf the water was in the box, they should have seen it. A very small amount of water will turn 18 qts of MERCON into really neat PINK FROTHY mess, if they just pulled the dipstick and knew what they were doing they would have known it had water contamination. Try it, buy a quart of MERCON, put it in a clear jar and add about 3 spoonfulls of water. Looks like the stuff from Ghostbusters, not something you would miss on the dipstick.

Just a thought.

Gregg, thanks for info. I agree ... they should have seen it. So what your telling me, is that ... without submersion, more than likely .... the only way water could enter the tranny is by water being poured directly in ... or from a bad radiator?

Thanks -- Jeff

NO, the radiator is definitly a way to get water in it, but that would be a warranty item as well, I would think. Hope you get it figured out.

JL,the truck is under 36,000 miles. The dealer you purchased the truck from would certainly not want to admit that they sold it to you with a pre-existing condition, that they missed.I would recommend taking the truck to another Ford repair shop that won't have a reason to cover anything up,because they didnt sell you the truck.Someone else may be more willing to investigate the cause and deal with Ford for warranty coverage. There are many guys in your area that can recommend other shops that they have found to be reputable.Try posting for help from some Tampa area guys on www.******.com.There are many guys there, experienced with the local dealers and shops.Hope this helps you.
