what is the amount left??

here we go 1 more time on oil use, just checked my oil at 7000 interval(using amsoil xl-7500 mile 5w-20),after putting in 2 quarts at between 3500 and 4000 and now the oil level JUST touches the bottom of the stick!! how low am I?and if 3 quarts low that means I using almost 1 quart for every 1000 miles or so,what gives?? most driving is on highway but we did go to milan dragway 3 weeks ago for about 8 runs

bottom of stick is near a quart low. with that severe of oil loss you might wanna stop into the dealer. Using it is one thing. pouring it away like a 30yr old smoke wagon is another.

frank2- My Lightning had the same problem!!! I took it in for the passanger side head gasket leaking, but when they took the head off they found my oil usage problem as well! On the #2 cylinder the valves and bowl itself were coated heavily with burnt oil, the valves on the other three cylinders were fine. Somehow the oil was leaking from the head into the #2 cylinder after it sat overnight and at first startup the next morning it would blow a nice size cloud of blue smoke out the exhaust.
Since they installed a new head and gasket the engine has not blowed smoke out the exhaust and has not used a drop of oil since!!! I still have access to the head, so Ill snap some pics of it today and post here to show you. My buddies Lightning is doing the same thing and our build #'s are close to yours!! Mine is 4788 and his is 48XX. Maybe something fishy there. Look under your truck at the tranny bell housing and see if its wet with oil, if so your passanger head is leaking too and Ford will replace the head and gasket and hopefully fix your oil consumption also.
