A Good parking is parking away from you!

I found this thread in a mustang forum and its seems to be a good question to ask you L owners. Here it is....

Does't it kill you how ignorant other people can be in parking lots? Door Dings...

Are you like me? i am tramatized now, I used to be OK about parking lots, until my cobra was struck for the first time, door dinged, by an old cadillac boat. Yep, put a small scuff in my flawless white painjob... Now, I search the parking lots for the farthest, worst parking out there. No, I don't doublespace, well not yet at least

How do you guys park your L?

Well,, here we go,, and i feel very special because of this, in malls i make sure I at least park next to a nice rice or in a space with lots of space for the doors as the L is a bit wide in stance. But when I go to the local bars, most of them know me right now, cause i'm always parked right in front where everyone that comes in there can see my shiney newly zainoed L,,,just got back from the bar and was talking to a girl in front of my truck for about a half hour,,, got so many compliments from other people walking by it made me blush,,, god i love this truck.

I usually check the cars im parking by. If they seem like the kind of cars that dont want a door ding then I feel a little safer. If they look like they could care less then you get the picture. Doesnt do you much good on a long stay though. By the time you get back out... there will be a beater with celophane windows parked beside you.

Angry Parking

I find that most people don`t give a damn about other peoples cars/trucks, so I park as far away from people as I can. I sure as hell don`t want some ******* in a toyota or what ever to open there door into the side of my truck.

I try to park out at or near the end of the lot in an end space...It doesn't matter anymore though because some damn mini-van always manages to find it's way next to me..Yesterday at Costco I parked out at the end of their upper lot, and when we came out there was a phu%%ing cart against my bumper!!! Nobody gives a ***** anymore........

I always make an effort to park as far away as possible, or to find a spot that is protected by nice luxury cars.

Just a word of advice, though:
DO NOT TAKE TWO SPACES WHEN PARKING!!! On Saturday, I went out to eat with my squaw and her family. Right in the front of a BUSY parking lot was some jackass in a red C5 taking up two spaces. I made a comment about people like that just asking for a keying...not too long after everyone else was saying the same thing. If your car is THAT important to you, why are you even driving it? If you just inisit on taking up two spots, why not move to the very back of the lot and do it there? I wanted to wait for him to leave the restaurant, find him at a light, and crush his *** in my dirty-as-hell truck...those are the best victories.

Stay away from any large coupe, especially Cadillacs, Lincolns, Camaros and Firebirds. Those big 'mericun doors can pack a real wallop.

If the car looks like the owner doesn't give a crap about it, then you can be sure he won't give a crap about yours.

Beware handicap plates. Beware handicap spots. Beware the handicapped.

Don't park next to trucks. Those damned things take up a whole parking space anyway, never mind their doors.

Don't take the closest spot to the building. The soccer moms fight over these spots, and they see the most traffic. You've got many more doors opening and closing next to your truck here than you would way out in the lot.

If it's a windy day, don't park near anyone at all. If someone opens their door and the wind catches it: <BANG!> The same goes for rain. People in a hurry to get in/out of their cars won't be paying attention to the damage they might do.

DO NOT DOUBLE SPACE!

It defeats the purpose of tryin to protect our paint job because in some places you'll end up gettign keyed anyway if somebody having trouble findin a spot if you're taking two.

i double park in the BOONIES. If limited spaces is a problem i'll park on the end, nearly into the gardens. and keep watchful eye on it while i am walking in and out.

I have a theory that I think I've proven many a times. I would say 90% of the people who drive can't park in a space without having another vehicle next to them. Without the other car(s) as a reference, they won't be able to line up correctly. It's not like those lines painted on the ground are there for anything.

When I go grocery shopping, I can park way out from the masses. There will be 20 open spots in between my truck and the next closest car, but yet when I come out, someone's parked next to me.

Toast we need to go to the bar sometime soon....that would be bada$$ if we had them parked next to each other. I finally might be able to test the softness of the bedrug On second thought I wouldn't want yours to look bad next to mine so maybe you shouldn't park next to me

In a lot that's got room, I'll double park...but not at the stupid "show car angle", just right down the middle.

When I can't do that, I try to find the most expensive cars in the lot and park next to them.

Had a friend once...

who was parked in a mall lot, and came out to his car only to find some Bozo in a caddy had punched the nose of the Pig-O-Lac thru the plastic grille of his car. To add insult to injury, the jerk didn't have the brains to back it away from the damage: left it with caddy bumper smashed thru friend's plastic grille.

My friend worked construction and had his tools in his trunk, so he got his hammer out, along with several 6" long spikes and he hammered them thru the Caddy's trunk lid.

Fitting revenge, I think, short of a bullet in the temple.
