Reasonable Trade In Value...

I am thinking about getting an 03 Cobra and I was wondering what everyone thought was a good value for an 01L with 20000 miles on it, excellent condition.

I just did a quick check on Edmunds.com. If you have a tonneau, figure on $24500. Subtract $170 if you don't.

That sounds reasonable to me. I like using Edmunds instead of Kelly Blue Book, there estimates are more in line with what people tend to pay.

That's true. The Edmunds quote takes that into account, asking for the zip code. Here in Michigan where anyone can just about get a-plan, you'd be really lucky to get $24k.

I just went through this so it's still fresh in my mind. . .

No matter how they 'shift' the dollar figures around to make the deal work, your truck should get you no less than 29k on a trade in. I personally got significantly more than that when I traded in my '99 with 37,000 miles on the clock, so you should be in even better shape than I was.

Don't haggle with the dealers. These vehicles are worth every penny and their value isn't dropping very much (if at all). The dealer will make their money re-selling your truck. They are making a load of cash off of you selling you the Cobra. So let them make the effort to attract you.

They'll try to low-ball you, and throw these WHACK deals in your face. . .but in the end if you are FIRM. . .they'll crack and give you the real deal. The one where everybody wins, not just them.

Hope this helps. . .

I also live in a very A-Plan environment which skews the numbers some, but I got $22,000 for a 2000 with 35K miles and a monster box installed, all service reciepts and new tires.

For what it's worth,
