speaker installation advice

I'm getting ready to buy some new speakers. I'm thinking the Pioneer TSA6867. Would you only put those in the front or also in the back? Also, I noticed there are not any visible screws. How easily do the door panels come off - any tips?

I replaced both the front and backs. The backs don't make a huge difference like the fronts though. If you order through Crutchfield, they have very detailed instructions on installation. Also, if you do a search here, there are instructions somewhere on here I'm sure.

I have those speakers up front, and they are definitely crisper sounding than the stock ones. Also when I add an amp for the speakers they will have the capacity to handle it.

Door panels are simple: pull off the top plastic piece that runs up the rear side of the window frame(it has two metal clips). Pull out the door handle trim plate, again easy. Pull up the window control switch plate, unplug the wires. Remove two screws... one that was revealed by removing that first plastic trim, and the other now visible by the door handle. Grasp the bottom edges of the door panel, slide upwards. It will come up and off, watch for the door light wire, just twist the bulb base a quarter turn counter clockwise to remove.

About the easiest panels I have ever removed. Worst ones were on my 94 GT and my 90 300 ZX TT... oy the plastic push pins...

Polk Momos sound pretty awesome with a good sized amp on them =) I am running 150wrms on them right now, and they just sound good. But it boils down to how much better you want it to sound. Surprisingly the stock speakers don't sound too bad with a new deck and amp. I still have the stock rears in mine as someone said they make nearly no differance. SPend twice the money on the fronts...

One of the best upgrades I can suggest over 5x7's/6x8 is to make a plate for a 6.5 componet set. I have listed to tons of diffeant 5x7's and none of them compare to a good set of components.

nah was CAKE to make, and yes I had to cut a bit out to make the speakers fit. The tweets are cut in also (hole saw and 2 mins worht of work, just gotta be careful if the window componets)

I am going to redo the plate in teh next week or so with a piece of red glossy plexi, soo i'll try to snap some pics for ya.

If its in your budget and you can find some then go with Dynaudio. It took me awhile to save up for these 6 1/2 inch components but it was well worth it. I had Infinity Perfect 6.1's but these dynaudio's are just head and toes above everything i have listened to. They do take some power though. Right now i have 500rms going into them and from what i hear from other dynaudio owners that is just getting them warmed up.
