G-Tech Pro vs Tazzo VPC??

I just purchased a 2002 Silver Lightning about 3 months ago. It currently has about 5000 miles on it and I really want to know what it will run in the 1/4 mile. The nearest track to my house is 1 1/2 hrs. With the way I work its hard for me to get a chance to go there. I have thought about purchasing the G-Tech or the Tazzo Performance computer. Are these machines accurate?? Which of these would you prefer. I notice that the Tazzo has way more features and its just $20 more. But I have heard more about the G-Tech. Any help on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks!!

The G-tech is good for ballpark figures, but you definitely want to throw out the trap speed it shows for the 1/4. The ET is normally within a tenth, but the trap speed can be way off (8 mph or more too high at times). I know a couple of people that use only the G-tech for their mod testing, and its kinda amusing to hear them talk about running 14.0 at 110mph on a stock '00 L, or 12.5 at 121mph with it under spray...

So far nothing beats a real track for accurate performance measurement.

GTEC Pro

I have a gtec Pro that seems to be within 1/10 of a second in the quarter.
I don't use it as the local track is within one hour from my house. If you are interested, I would sell it to you for $80.00 and I will cover shipping costs.

I find the G-Tech useful for 0-60mph times. Practice your launch until you are solid in the mid to low 5's. After that go to the track and get a time slip. I haven't seen 8+mph, but mine is 5mph over the time slip (has to due with an avg. speed in the trap vs actual speed at the line). Times are close to a tenth but I have seen times off by 0.12 sec. Remember this is only a TOOL to teach you how to drive or to test mods or to teach you how to drive the new mods. You get the idea. Can't speak for the Tazzo but it does appear to have more features. Check Andy out, and be sure to get the instructions.

mid to low 5's? I haven't been higher than 4.98 yet... my range is 4.46 (best) to 4.98 (worst with lots of spin)

Just commenting... those times were all done with the JDM line mod installed... that thing does wonders for the 1-2 shift... (bit scary actually)
