How to get to drive a L
My father own a 01 L I have tryed to convince him to let me drive while I have my permit. I have been trying to let me drive since we got it in January of last year. Any ideas would help that would help me please don't hesitate to type them in this thread.
God I love that truck.
God I love that truck.
Try getting some experience driving first.
I know I would have probably killed myself when I first got my license if I would have drove an L. Hell I almost did a couple times in my Freshcort LX
Man those 1.9L really moved

If your dad loves his truck as much as I think he does....
Don't count on it until your dad has a 2010 lighting.......
When I was 25, I drove a friends Chevy Cyclone when he needed my full size truck to move some stuff.
The first few lights all went fine, but at a long stop light I forgot that I was not in my Ram with a 5.2 L V8.
The light changed I did my habitual mash the accel to the floor to get it going ( that is how the Ram V8 needed to be treated to get it off the line ) and BAMB !!! Off down the road like a monkey with his butt on fire.
I almost messed my pants, and that was after 9 years of driving, forget one thing and it could have been a real mess involving rush hour Chicago traffic.
Subtract 9 years driving time, and add back the additional power the L has over the Cyclone......does not sound like a good idea to me, even not knowing how good of a driver you could be ( as in better then soap and myself at 16 <g> ).
This is just my take on it, trying to be honest, and similar to soap I almost killed myself in a F100 with a 300 I-6 when I was 16..a few times over. The only side that did not get fixed on it was the top <g>
Sorry I could not tell you the answer you wanted to hear......

Sorry, couldn't resist.I'm NOT gonna start the L vs. Sy fight here, but, with the added power comes added WEIGHT, which equals , well, just about EQUAL, as far as GO-Power.
Otherwise, my .02 is I think the SYclone would actually be the lesser of the two evils for a beginner as the AWD would keep him hooked up, but in reality they are both real poor choices for a beginner.
OK OK....
Now that I see it in writting...I'll take that bash <g>
GMC, not Chevy that now clicks ( long time ago..in a GMC far far away.....
I actually just now did a google search and it turned up sites with Cyclone and Syclone both....so again I will defer to you.
As far as the 2 of them....I would have thougth on the sheer merits of the truck itself that the L was faster, but you raise a valid point.
Then again the size of the truck, and the fact that the L is actually a Truck versus the SYCLONE is a somethign or another under a truck body might have something to do with it.
The guy that used my truck told me it had a 500# bed payload or something ridiclus low like that....
