200 SHOT?????? OUCH!!!!!

Let's see: $500 for a throttle body = 5HP
$500 for a 200 shot of NOS = 200HP

Ok, i know it's not THAT easy!! What issues are there with NOS on our trucks? Seems there are not that many people running it. Any reason why? I wouldn't mind throwing on some slicks and a 100 shot for the track?.?

Yeah, to SUPPORT a 200hp shot of NOS you need to upgrade your block and your fuel pumps.

Upgraded block (pistons, rods, valves, etc) : $2000
Upgraded fuel pumps : $400?

I have also gone to the bottle. The NX kit is in and ready to go. Just need to get to the track, fill the bottle and make some runs. Should be lots of fun. But my track kicks you off after the first run under 11.99, looks like a roll cage will need to be installed soon.

Where did you get the kit, is it specific to the Lightning or just a generic setup? What "shot" is it? What else have you done to make sure you don't blow a motor or other parts?

A nice setup will cost more than that. You can at least double that amount. Then if you don't refill your own bottle probably $3-5 dollars /lb of nitrous.

example(I know prices are not 100% accurate and I'm sure I forgot something)

$315 for BaBolt TB
$250 for a lower pulley
$400 flip chip
$120 Lakewood traction bars
$60 drive shaft loop
$500 Nitto drag radials/ et streets(with wheels)
$30 line valve mod
$50 deep tranny pan
$0 unplug boost by pass
$150 air intake
$400 electric fan
$100 water pump
total $2375

V.
basic Nitrous kit $800
blanket $50
bottle heater $200
remote bottle opener $200
gauges $200
inline filter $50
purge kit $120
bottle refills $60
tach adapter $70
window switch $200
total $1950(minus the lower resale value the truck will have because you used nitrous.)

IMO this is why people don't use nitrous

Good point, at $2000 for a good NOS setup, you're right, that's why most people don't do it.

I purchased my kit from JohnnyLightningPerf.com

You can also purchase from Sal. They are both great guys. I purchased the nitrous plate from Sal. This was used instead of making a hole in the intake boot.

As far as specific to the Lightning, it is not. It is just a NX (Nitrous Express) wet kit.

As far as the additional parts used, check my sig. Also gauges have been installed (Boost, Fuel and A/F) and will be installing larger fuel pumps.

Not sure about the "Shot" that will be used. It will be small at first then it will be turned up.

Yep, it is going to take nitrous to become one of the fastest around. I have the new NOSzle system on standby with up to a 300 shot if needed. It will be installed if I don't get my 166 blower from JDM.

I guess we now have only one L tuner not running NOS.

I hope to see JL break into the 10's on his new Kenne Bell blower with no NOS soon.

He's already ran a 11.1 without NOS. Sounds like the Kenny Bell blower may be on my X-mas list. If the stock rods can't take the KB blower, I'll upgrade the short block later.

Still deciding on which route to go. I've heard of some of the trucks that have just strengthened their bottom end, running in the 11.80 - 11.90's zone with the stock blower.

If you dip into the 11's at most tracks, you'll need a roll bar.
I want my L to still be a daily driver and run low 12.00 to 12.10 all year long with proper tuning by JL.

LOL, no flame man, but the NOS seems alittle more of a sure thing than a 166....
