Of course I am at fault. I was driving a bigger vehicle and it was fast.
my .02
Why is it that no one slammed into the back of the 2 kids? No one was behind them and they were side by side when they hit the jeep, doesnt that seem strange to anyone? Im only 20 and I know if my friends
(who are older than these idiots) had those cars they would be showing off and dragging also. I think the jeep looks so bad simply because it absorbed 2 friggin cars impacts at the same time. You dont see that kind of perfect timing in accidents very often. Even more reason to believe they were racing. The couple should have been smarter and realized what was going on around them , but it is hard to see how fast something is going at night. Not to mention most people arent exaclty expecting anyone to be going as fast as they probably were.
baddgene: I like how you turned a simple statement into a racist comment. chill out

I don't know what the speed limit was but if they were breaking the law i.e. 1 mph over the limit they should both be charged with vehicular manslaughter. I mean it is their fault the Jeep pulled out in front of them right?
I actually meant if they were racing.

LOL!!! SOAP!!! Is Sals last name really Manella? Oh man, that's rich! Hooooweee! Anyway, I know this is supposed to be a somber thread but ya gotta laugh at life(death) sometimes.
Can you imagine being the newscaster.
"And we would like to report that Mr. Jaco....Mr. Ja.... Mr. J....Mr.....
Uhhhh the driver of the other vehicle was tragically killed as well.
Ya know, when mother nature gives ya lemons....some people make lemonade....me, I make Lemon marange pie & take whats left & break out the tequila and salt!
Some things are too good to pass up....even for the sake of decency!

Hey! Lets not make this about racism! The moderator will shut it down and that would suk big donkey balz! This one has potential. Besides, its helping keep all the sad sacks from posting on the "new girl" thread.
My $0.02
The guy in the jeep was getting....um....some special attention from his fiancee and was busy watching something else when he should have been watching the road. Sure the kids may have been racing but Johnny Jeep head (pun intended) should have been watching the road
Check out the surroundings of the accident, it looks well lit and wide open.
Yep the driver wasn't watching

From what it looks like to me, I belive the kids were racing. They are about my age and I know what we do with high-performance cars (for the most part). Yet it does look as if the couple pulled-out without much judgement.
Its sad to hear of stories like this but, that is why there are special investigators to reach a conclusion to who is at fault.
My condolences to the family.
There are times not to joke. Esp. if it would have been one of our family members.

Eh... my better judgement tells me I should stay off this thread, but I'll throw out my 2 shiny pennies:
1) The Jeep driver has to be held partially responsible. You NEVER make a left turn unless you have enough time to do 3 donuts and a 5-point turn safely. It's not worth the risk otherwise, ESPECIALLY at night when you cannot judge how fast 4 oncoming headlights are approaching. A cop once told me that you'd eliminate 90% of all traffic accidents if you made all left turns illegal - he probably has a point even if he's exaggerating the statistics. This guy either tried to sneak across a median and 2 lanes, or wasn't even looking/paying attention (it does look like a brightly lit 4-lane road). I once creamed someone trying to make a left-turn across 6 lanes of traffic: the other driver misjudged traffic in the far 3 lanes, and hesitated with his *** hanging out in the middle of *MY* lane. I was boxed in by a semi and the median/oncoming traffic, so I slammed on the brakes and blasted his Saturn into about 100 plastic pieces. He never should have pulled out in front of us in the first place... (lucky no one was hurt).
2) I'm not sure if the 2 teenagers were involved in a "speed contest" but they were probably driving recklessly. You don't need to be pacing the car next to you at 10:40 PM Monday night. The kids were probably enjoying the cars (who wouldn't), but flying in tandem takes some concentration, and some of your attention too. So they probably weren't paying attention and didn't see the Jeep as they were glancing at their friend in the next lane over.... or they were racing and we all know what really happened!!!!
Too bad for all involved - drive safely everyone!

Did anyone think that the Mercedes or Corvette could have just been passing the other car when they hit the Jeep. I pass people on a 4 lane road all the time with out racing.
The Jeep did pull out in front of them.
