Talking First Solo2 Event with the new suspension!

Wow, what a difference in feel. You can definately feel like you're driving more now then sailing in a boat!

I was lazy this weekend, so I ran on my street tires...which is fun non-the-less...plus I wanted to see how far I could push these Pirelli's... I was very impressed with them!

First run I had everything cracked up stiff(12F/12R), and wowee that made for a fun ride! lol Talk about oversteer! Heheh, it made it really easy to drift and I felt like I joined my friends in the Subaru club! lol....after the very crowd pleasing lap of me drifting all four through various curves, I towned down the rear a bit and made some more serious runs.

Running with 12F/9R seemed to work the best for this pavement, course and tire combo. It held well without much roll, yet kept the oversteer down.

One lap I tried starting in "2" instead of "D". This seemed to be a fatal error as I ended up plowing after the opening slolom and took out two cones in the corner and scared 10 years off some course workers. Needless to say, I won't be trying to use "2" again anytime soon. lol.

I was trying learn the course with as little brake as possible but I found myself understeering alot of the sharper cutbacks when I did this... Once I said alright, time to do some braking, I shave 2seconds off my time (on ~53-57s laps)...

Final best, 52.218 ... worst (2nd gear attempt) 58.333+2 ... I beat my friend in his Mini Cooper-S which was a comfort. ;)

Was fun...pavement at this new place was great...next time, the race rubber comes with me. :)

It was at Giant's Stadium in Seacacus... Sponsored by the NASA-NE group. They actually have sponsors that give out monetary contingancy prizes for placing.

It definately road much more level, it was great...now I just need better seats and harness to keep myself in place! lol...

They havn't "finalized" the stats yet, so I'm not sure. Their classing isn't as good as the other group I run with, so I was up against some tough cars. I think I placed 15th in my group, but I have to wait to find out.

Great to hear everything worked out well! I dialed in my shock setting yesterday at 11F/6R and it worked well for the course I ran. Let us know about the next event!

How do you think I feel??? At least you take up most of the seat and don't have as much space I have to move.

Hey Dan,

sorry I took such crappy pix bro... I was definitely not used to your camera, LOL

that last run shot I took would have been awesome if not for my fat finger pressing the shudder again and letting your truck get out of the shot while just capturing its *** in the turn, LOL... I suck!

anyway, my bald head is Cobra R performance Red now... definitely got a good sunburn, but it was a lot of fun!

Dan: Way to go! These quick-pigs can turn too, can't they? I autocrossed just one event about 6 months ago and made the same mistake(2nd gear) only I never smarted up and changed it to Drive. .

Thx guys...Solo2 is such a blast and really easy to participate in.

Russ -- Thanks for snapping the shots of me racing...no biggy on the pix, there's still more events to practice up on. ;) And next time, we'll get ya a hat or some sunblock for the melon. :)

Pete -- I can imagine! Heheh, harness time baby!

Spike -- Yeah, I'll probably run softer next time too...I get around 8 runs an event, so I get time to play with the settings.

Andy -- We've got another in two weeks, I'll email u.

Dan -- hehe, yeah, was really freaky, I totally didn't expect it to behave like that! Woah! After the first curve, I just pushed it back into D and finished the lap.

Bruce - thx. :) You gotta try one of these events! It only costs rubber and brakes. ;)

Bob -- Yeah, I'm loving it. That shot of in the slolom there looks like I chose a pretty good line... I think next event I'm going to take an instructor along and get some comments.

Riding with an instructor helps a lot, especially if you ride with them driving while they verbalize what they're doing. Yesterday, I rode with one on a road course and she was extremely smooth and talked thru each section. Then again, I expected it since she was a national autocross champion. We also did some agricultural racing!
