Question L Steering Wheel Part #?

Anybody have the OEM part # for a stock lightning steering wheel? Does anybody know if they come with the air bag?

If I remember right its the same as the Exploder...check out an Explorer Sport, it might be cheaper?

The wheel will have a separate part # than the airbag.

It's definately not the run of the mill F150 wheel, and it matches perfectly the wheel that was on both the 97 and 00 Exploders I had. Although it looked absolutely identical to both of those I can't honestly tell you if the wiring hookups/rings behind it are/were identical. A base part # would tell you that.

I also remember an interview with someone from SVT (Coletti? Scarpello?) that mentioned it was an Exploder wheel.

Good luck!

I havent had any luck as of yet, I was going to have my wheel wrapped in something neat but I like how much smaller the L one is. Besides its starting to show some wear now.

Im re-starting this thread, anybody have any different ideas?

Go into a dealer parts department and have them look up and give you the part #. Have them verify if that is the same # used on the (1997-2001) Explorer. There are a few online parts houses that may save you some money on a new one, OR, armed with the knowledge of the parts interchangeability, try to have a local salvage yard locate one for you.

Otherwise, some carbon fiber kits include an applique for the wheel rim...

Just a few ideas--hope this helps...

I heard that the 03 steering wheel will be thicker and have perforated leather like the FR500 steering wheel for the Mustangs.
