Question Flasher Relay

Does anyone have any clues as to where this is located and exactly which on it is on the Gen 2's?? I added some LED bulbs to my truck and need to replace mine with a variable load flasher so they work correctly. I tried the 4 relays under the dash in the fuse panel as instructed by local dealer but that didnt do anything for me....even tried removing them with signal on and didnt do squat. I am not as brave to try this with the several in the power block under the hood.

Thanks!!

Eric

PS.... I also contacted SVT and the were no help as were several parts stores or another dealership here in OKC.

I have the same problem. I only replaced my tail lamps with LED units from LEDtronics. I think the turn signal flasher is intergrated into the hazzard relay. When I use either the clicking comes from the same module under the dash above the accelerator pedal. Although my directional signals blink fast the hazzards are at the normal blink rate.

I have tried also to get a flasher modual that would not be fooled by the lower amp draw of the LEDs but with out success. I was thinking of 2 possible fixes.

1st one wire stock sockets in parallel behind housings and paint bulbs black.

2nd one wire in a resistor with the same impedance and wattage as the bulbs.

Hmmmmm...havent thought to check the rate of emergencies as that would make sense. You can buy what is called a load equalizer that splices into the wiring. I got my bulbs from jamstrait and they told me I would need a equalizer for each side at the rear (tail lights) and that would correct it. They are like $15 a piece but I didnt want to splice into the factory wiring if I dont have too.

load balancer sounds a lot like the resistor idea I had. $30 for a few resistors sounds extreme maybe its something different. Did you do the front turn signals also? Well let me know how you make out which ever route you take. I really don't have the time to play with mine currently. I spent $50 a piece for the bulbs so another $30 won't break me. I did check the trailer hitch wiring to see if I could use that in some way but it appears to use a separate relay. So an additional load at that point would be useless. I dont have a problem tapping into the factory harness. I would solder and heat shrink any splices. I have seen too may of those crimp type connections go bad.

There is an integrated flasher/hazzard relay block behind the dash. Both turn signals and hazzards work off it. The only problem I see with swapping it for a different one is what it physically looks like. There may not be an aftermarket one to use. Hope this helps.

They have load resistors blocks which are used for LED swaps.
