Old JL Filter vs. New design JL Filter

Couple questions:

I have an '01, and was considering picking up an old design JL Filter kit............it's the one that does not have that metal or black shield. Anyhow, is it just one kit for all Gen2's, 99-02, or is there a difference between the non-90mm MAF's and the ones with 90mm MAF's?

Also, are there any advantages to having that shield around the filter? Does anyone here have the old design.........plz share your thoughts.

thanks,
JC

I had both kits from JLP and didnt see much differance in either of them, PERFORMANCE wise....

The newer kit is alittle better looking and all though...

I used the same JL air filter kit (old one) for both a 80mm and the 90mm.

The kit was about 1mm too small for the 90mm but the air kit is not perfectly cylindticral(sp) either.

I had the filter when I had my 80mm, when I bought the 90mm it bolted right back on.
