MagnaFlow Owners

ok, just installed the magnaflow today, and i must say that it isn't very loud. Just wondering, you guys that have them, doesn't it get louder when it gets more broken in? also, it smells kinda funky, is that normal for new exhaust? thanks

Bill

Yes, but if you want superloud, get bassani. Ilove my magnaflow. Now mine is at the point that it is even loud a idle. Well, louder than stock anyway. Sounds great.

i hope the magnaflow at least gets as loud as the vortex...

It will get a little louder, but not a lot louder. The smell will be gone in a week or so, it will get a little less each day.

Our trucks seem to respond well with the single magnaflow as far as power goes. I think my truck was faster off the line with the single magnaflow, than it is with the dual setup I have now.

Couple questions:

Did you just replace the muffler, or did you get new piping also?

Did you get new tips?

How much did it run you?

What's the model #, so that I know to get the louder one.....I think the loudest one is the 14468?

Thx,
JC

I would like to hear a comparison of the Magnaflow and the new MAC catback... need to find people down here in FL who have these setups before I throw cash at one...

Thumbs up

I love my single(14568), internal X-pipe, Magnaflow c/b. It's only slightly louder than stock but it is jus' right for an ol' fart . As everyone has said, the stink will go away. Ir was on when I ran my 12.532, so it didn't hurt my ets.

Cool

Bill,

It will get louder. Most people haven't had theirs on long enough to see how loud it gets or took it off before it got louder. After 2 months it is noticeably louder. after 6 months you will notice that it's louder. This video is a year old single magnaflow with JBA headers. If you have a subwoofer and crank it up you will definitely notice the rumble at idle. The rear window is open.

Nozebleedness,

you're doing fine...

The 12568 is probably a tad bit quiet than the 12468

They will get louder with time. I've had mine (12468) for a year and a half and am very happy with the sound. So much so that I removed it from my former 99 before trading/upgrading and had it re-installed on my 01.

However, the Bassani and Kooks long tube setups DO sound awesome.

Bob,

That was the longer aluminized version in the video. I had it on for almost 2 years so it got even louder.

I've had the Kooks with the single stainless steel magnaflow on for a month now. It is killer sounding. I need to go make another video to compare them.

It's a little quieter at idle than the 2 year old magnaflow but at any throttle input especially WOT it's louder with a growl. I've had
people ask me about my exhaust at the track because they thought it sounded so good. That means they could hear it over the blower.

00fireride, man this is weird, the original owner of your truck lives in my neighborhood, saw him everyday, saw the truck before it had the flames, also saw it for sale up at Ford of Ocala. I just got an '02 L a few months ago, just thought I'd try to make contact with you, maybe we can meet up at FFW this weekend at the raceway, you would look good at Test and Tune too! Anways, shoot me an email at banshee@mfi.net.

BTW if you want a more throaty sound you could get the JDM high flow cats.
