New Rims/Tires

You can run your 20" rims and tires with no problems, your speedometer will just be a little off.

Larry.

When your speedometer reads 80 mph, you will be running 85. It's nothing to worry about in the real world. At least that's what Justin at thewheelexchange.com told me. I've never noticed any problems in traffic, everyone else is running the same speed as me.

What wheels and tires did you get? They must be shweeeet!

Tim

That is a ton of money for 20's man. You should be able to buy a killer set for less than $3000. I hope you love them, they sure are expensive and will be very hard to get your money out of if you don't like them and decide to sell. Not many people can or will pay that much for wheels.

Good luck,

Tim

svt360,

I've been thinking about HRE's for a while. My neighbor has them on is ZR-1. They are the siznit. He has 17 546s i think...they are six spoke for cars. I also saw a guy in town with 22" 640s and he said they cost about $1700 a piece. What options are you getting?

If you need to adjust your speedo, check out this web page:

http://www.atrol.com/

Most specifically, their ERA, or Electronic Ratio Adapter. I think you need two of 'em for the Lightning, one for the speed sensor and one for the output shaft sensor/abs sensor. If they're not both corrected at the same ratio, the computer will think the trans is slipping really badly and throw codes/shut down.

Unless the tire size is a LOT different though, you may be better off just leaving it alone. I wouldn't bother unless it was something like 10 MPH at 60... Just figure out which way the speedo's off and then keep that in mind on the interstate, you know? There are about a jillion ways to do that.

Alternately, you could get one of those mega cool GPS units and hang it in your truck, those tell you how fast you are going too, and VERY accurately. By the time you were done hanging two Abbott ERA boxes, you could buy one of the nifty keen Garmin Street Pilot IIs with color and voice...
