Carpet install tips, anyone have some?
Carpet install tips, anyone have some?
Well I got my new carpet this weekend and at first I thought they made a mistake cause this is supposed to be molded carpet and the box they sent it to me was small.
So I opened it up and right away i knew this wasn't going to be fun trying to get this folded and bent up carpet to fit right in the truck.
This months truckin has an article on installing new carpet bit I wanted to get some L owners Idea's on what they did to install it.
thanks guys, the black looks nice in there though! Its got me thinking about what else I can paint now, HEHEHEEHE.

Unroll it outside in the sun, and let it set for a while. it helps to get the shipping wrinkles out, plus makes more supple (heh, word of the month club at work) for installation.
Remove everything you can from inside the truck, seats, storage box, and kick panels. Strip out the old. Depending on whether the new stuff has the sound matting/cushion on it, either be very careful not tear up the old stuff, or else make sure to get all of it out too.
Lay the carpet in place, tug and stretch till it is in the right place. Would be another good time to let it set for a while to lay as flat as possible. Sunshine and heat is your friend.
Be a good time for Dynamatting if you're doing any stereo work, or padding sound absorption stripping if you're going for light weight/racing.
If its a decent brand carpet, things should go together pretty easily. If not, its a pain... g'luck
