Wink

I think it will look superb once you get the rest of the truck painted to match.

It actually doesn't look half bad. I don't think having hydraulics is ghetto ,

Chick:

Tell Walker to call Cervinis and get the inserts for the hood. They provide them free to the original purchaser.

Just think how much faster it must be now....

Rich,

Do the inserts match Street Scene grills?

I have an extra SS grill and was going to make inserts for the hood.

Don,

If they are not an exact match to a Street Scene grill, I don't want them. Do they match? I saw Wolff's and his doesn't appear to be exactly the same as SS.

Here's what it took to get them.

Call Cervinis and talk to their technical guy, not the salesguy. If they can verify that you purchased the hood, they will send them to you at no cost.

Chicken:
All of the latest photos of my Lightning have the Cervinis inserts. They are as close as you can get without cutting up a SS grill. That's actually what I was going to do until I saw how close the inserts matched.

Rich,

I looked at all your pictures and while they look good, I really can't see them THAT clear.

I think I'm going to make some from a leftover SS grill to see how it works. If I have a problem, I'll get them from Cervini.

Thanks for the help buddy.

If I had an extra SS grill to cut up, I would have done it too.

Here's a tip:
Make them simple flat, long ovals and drill them straight into the thick part to the left and right of the hole. I tried the wrap-around, double sided tape thing too many times.

Let us see it when you're done.

Here ya go Rich, thanks for the tip. The simple way IS the best way. All I need to do now is duplicate in reverse for the other side.

You going to prime over the red first, or try to strip the red off??

Painting Silver over Red may cause some bleed through, I think you want gray under the Silver for best results.

Yeah I know, Don. I'm going to use an epoxy sealer to shield against bleed through. Plus, I didn't get into the red, only the clearcoat. I think it'll be alright. I've done this stuff all my adult life.

Thanks for the heads up though, not many people know that it can happen. Red is the hardest color to paint over, always has been, especially if you're painting a light color like white or silver over it.
