Lightning Specs.

I know that late model lightnings come with 28 inch tall tires, yet a F-150 generally comes with 30 inch tires, therefore, overall the Lightning is 1 inch lower just from the tires. But, does anyone know how much lower the front coilsprings and rear leafsprings/shackles and hangers are as compared to a late model F-150?

Or overall, how much lower is a late model Lightning as compared to a late model f-150?

Thanks.

nitrous63,

Does that mean that as compared to a stock height F-150 with 30 inch tall tires, since the Lightning 28 inch tall tires alone cause a front and rear drop of 1 inch, and if a Lightning has a 2 inch front drop and a 1 inch rear drop, that a Lightning must have 1 inch drop coils and the rear leafsprings, shackles and hangers are the same as a F-150? Therefore, overall as compared to a stock F-150 with 30 inch tires, a stock Lightning overall has a 2/1 drop?

Or, do you mean that a Lightning has a 2 inch front coil drop and a 1 inch rear leafspring/shackle/hanger drop, not including the tire height drop? Therefore, overall as compared to a stock F-150 with 30 inch tires, a stock Lightning overall has a 3/2 drop?

Thanks.

When I went to lower my truck Belltech said to use the regf-150 3inch drop front coil springs to lower the front 1inch due to fact that it is 2inch lower than reg f-150.and I went with a 2inch rear shackle kit to lower the rear 2inches wich would normally even out the stance of the truck, but it still has a little rake to it.As far as how tall the tires are I do not know off hand.Hope this helps.

nitrous63,

It sounds like,

Lightning (28 inch tire) height compared to F-150 (30 inch tire):

without tire height difference: a Lightning is 2/0 lower than a F-150.

With tire height difference: a Lightning is 3/1 lower than a F-150.

Overall, your Lightning now, has a 4/3 drop as compared to a F-150.

Just like you said and not including the tire height difference, if a 3 inch drop coil gives a Lightning a 1 inch drop then if you use a 2 inch shackle for a 2 inch drop, that would indicate that a Lightning rearend is the same height as a F-150.

What does not make sense to me, is if you look at a Lightning, the fender wells look "filled up", even with the smaller height tire. This would indicate to me, a much lower stock drop as compared to a F-150. Thanks for your help.
