4lb pulley makes me slower?!

Well, I suppose I should clarify that a little...

I just got done installing my TR6's, after 3 hours... grrr.. big guys with BIG hands were not meant to work on vehicle, of this I am certain. Pulley installed in 45 minutes from jack up to jack down... the JDM Interchangable is so nice to install... pull of the belt, drop the stock one out the bottom, shove the new one up, tighten, put the belt back on (after breaking the stop tab on the tensioner) and drive!

anyhow, I went to a quite private drive to play a bit with my trusty gtech meter... my first run, I was 2 tenths slower than without the pulley... course my old launching procedure which worked great with the stock pulley caused the tires to spin for about 10 seconds... ... never left tire dust with out doing a brake stand b4!

Guess I have to learn how to tap dance a bit to launch now... truck pulls really nice now though, especially in the low R's... Once I get this down, it feels like it could be a good .5 sec faster in the 1/4

Johnny likey...

Same here, going from a 2# to a 5# pulley. MPH went up a bit, ET remained the same. Of course it was a major traction issue... some Truck-Tracs and possibly some drag radials in my near future...

Heh... first plug change took 2 hours... pays to be a 160 pound skinny geek sometimes...

Like your mustang work. Looks like you know motors pretty well. Computers and motors; I only got the computers, but working on motors. Love this quote
... the Cobra went away, in exchange I am now driving an arrest-me-red '02 Lightning, which has already gotten an air filter upgrade, pulley, and Superchips flip-chip. Should be in the high 12 second range, and yes, it is faster than the Cobra by a good bit..

Heh... yep, the Cobra suffered from major wheel hop (shoulda been called a Kangaroo) despite polyurethane bushings and a pinion brace. Best I saw was 14.5 at 98mph... sad really, and scary as it bounced all the way up through 3rd gear...

Mr. Beefcake, what did your trusty g-tech have to say about the mph difference through the 1/4 between the two pulleys?

I haven't done a "Good" run with the new pulley yet... haven't had a chance yet... I'll try 2nite if the rain stays away and let you know...

The gtech is consistantly about 5 mph high, when compared to a track, but, again, it's consistant, and since you are looking for the difference, I can get that to ya...

I'll go out 2nite and cause some trouble... look for something around 9:30-10:00pm CST...

Thanks, I'm interested in seeing how much it picks up.

I can't say I really "Hang" anywhere, but I normally cruise between layton and i-94 on s 108th. (i.e. hwy 100) I'll keep a lookout for ya. If I do see ya, I'll try and catch up. Just be careful if they're runnin control points or speed traps. Last night was a really tame police night so they may be nuts tonight. Oh yeah and remember... if there are control points, it's a max of 3 passes in 2 hours. You'll know em cuz they're always sitting in like a big suburban or something in the median or on the grass right next to the road. It looks really obvious. I know I know, I've got it down to a science Just stop at oscars or something inbetween and you'll be fine.

Hey beefcake,

I forgot to ask you where do you take yours for service work? Hiller? Someone told me Hiller is the anti-mod dealership. They supposedly won't touch it with any mods. I've also been told Badger will service it... one time only regardless of mods.

Anyway, Nice to meet you tonight. It sure was alot better to be rollin next to another L for once. I'm sure I'll see you again.
