Stock Boost Gauge Problems !info!
I freaked out seeing I was only pushing like 7lbs of boost after I threw on my JDM Chip and Filter on my 02. So I posted and got all worked up till I called JDM today. Justin/Jim told me once you throw on a aftermarket filter K&N, JDM,JLP, etc..the stock gauge is worth nothing. The gauge only runs right or some what when your truck is stock..I dunno if this is just for 01/02?(90maf). I just thought I would let everyone else knowing being I see alot of posts about stock gauges not reading right, including my own..so its just for everyones FYI.
Thanks!
Thanks!
My boost gauge was never accurate... but I think if it dropped I'd be concerned. Just out of curiousity would it be possible to test it safely without a filter element whatsoever? it should have gone up. it's a pressure operated gauge so the way I see it even if it's innacurate, it should have gone up if the kit worked properly and provided more airflow.
My guage went way into the black after the filter/TB. So w/ no aftermarket pullies, it would read about 14 psi........although it sits 'up' a bit at idle........its just a completely inaccurate gauge. But it did go up alot after the mods.
I don't think mine went as high this am either after installing a air intake kit last night. The road was wet and I was in some traffic so I did not get a full test but it seemed to not go as high on the boost guage. The blower whine was sure nice though
Ditto....
I have the same problem (just installing the JDM intake though).
The stock gauge is definetly inaccurate, but it should be repeatable. The needle being lower means that you have less boost. Period.
