Calling any Silver L w/aftermarket hoods

Hey all

I got some "fiberglass pieces" coming towards the end of the week. I have been told by a couple body shops that they want to blend the silver into my front fenders.....WTF Did anybody have their hoods painted without the fenders being blended and the color match? I just don't want my factory paint on the fenders fu*#ed with. O yeah, 2001 color, YN code

silver is a real hard color to match. especially the sparkly silver on our trucks. most people will tell you to have it blended into the fenders and not to just panel paint it to get a good match.

Bruce - whatcha gettin

The guys that have the One Lap of America truck have the AAD F1 cobra hood and it matched the truck decently well.

Other then that most everyone I've heard from says blending is the best way to get it to match.

Pete

With all this time and money being spent on the money pit AKA... the new house, my truck was getting the jones, so a new grill, hood and rear spoiler was in order

FastAsL

I still think your co-pilot is as cute as a button. Hows was in istall on your grill? Thats what I ordered

bruce-- the install went well. however, instead of installing the grilles with the supplied clips, drill some holes and use zip-ties to secure the new grilles. also, on the upper grille it looks a lot better if you cut the honeycomb part out of the grille then install the new one. tim a.k.a. chickenears has all the details and pictures.

and thanx for the kind words about my daughter. i have some new pics from her 1st birthday that i should post. they are so cute!!

If you want it all to look the same under different lighting....you'll let them blend your fenders too. It's possible for it tgo look good and "SEEM" like a good match in sunlight, but if you get it under lights at night, it's when you'll notice the difference.

If the guy is worth his salt, you won't notice a difference in your car after the blend.

I had my front fenders blended in to match the Cervini.

Looks Flawless!!

a local shop wanted to blend the paint into the doors after an 'antenna shaving'......guess silver is hard to match. Although my bed cover was painted YN silver before it was even delivered, and it matches good...........

I got the AAD F-1 hood also. Body shop didn't blend and it looks great. I'll have to pay more attention to different light though. Also 1 fender had to be painted (note not REpainted) it was new. And he repainted the door to match the fender. It all cam out looking excellent. Check Here for Webshots albums of the work.

no blend here

I had my Cervini cowl hood painted without blending into the fenders and it is perfect.
The painter I use did several test cards that we compared under several different lights, and conditions before we decided on the final shade of silver.
Any good painter can, and should provide you with this service.

Marc

The shipping company called today and said the hood will be delivered friday My feeling is just paint the hood and if the color doesn't suit me......then.......I'll let the painter blend Thanks all for your response

Nice pics of your girl FastAsL, but there is something about seeing her strapped in and ready to go for a ride that I like
