Miles is just a number On a motor if it was a eazy every day driver and if the oil change's where doen exc.......... But other than that it sounds good wont take much to get it lookn new...... Maby i could be wrong id have to see the truck .?
There is one here in Memphis with 246,000 miles on it and NO major problems!! First, if it hasn't been repainted, do that, the 93's have no clearcoat on them. Second, get the wheels chromed, they look sweet chrome. Also, I sold my '93 with 86,000 on the OD and the only real problem I had was the EGR valve sticking ($36). I got 9500 trade in and that was 2 years ago.
I had a 93 with 78k on it when I traded up. It was mechanically sound. Only thing that ever happened under the hood was a dead battery. Underneath I had to change radial arm bushings. The cat is too close to the passenger side arm, at least on mine they were, and the bushing melted at 30k. Check 'em.
It was very dependable. I wish I could have kept it. And yes, the wheels were starting to flake a little. It had no mods other than a 25.00 line mod type kit. Factory Stereo sux.

micky, that price DOES sound high. When I decided to buy my 2002, I was checking out a '94. It was in great shape, 78k miles. Decent paint, although I would have repainted it, and the interior was mint. Had my brother-in-law (Ford tech) throw it up on the lift and check it out, no problems that he could find. Asking price on that one was $7000, and I talked them down to $6500 before I decided to go new. (They owned it for $6200)
thx for the replys
were there any problems with the 93-95 lightnings or maybe just the 93's?
what all should i have check out on it?
anything else i should look out for?

93's didnt have the jump seat option or clear coat or bed light. The 94's got a little better trans and i think clear coat and the bed light. Optional jump seat. 95's got clear coat, a much better upgraded trans and jump seat. Get a 95.
I sold my 93 about 5 months ago now. I drove it pretty hard but I took really good care of it. It now has over 150,000 miles and still runs like new. I owned it for 5 years and only replaced the battery and those radius arm bushings. If you need to replace them then do it with polyurathane and your problems are over. Btw, I sold mine to a Mexican I work with for $4,500. He babies it and only drives it on the weekend.[IMG]

For the money it could be alot of fun, first on my list of to do's would be a new motor, there will be guys that have many more miles on there vehicles but don't think that you will be that lucky. I'm think for 5,000.00 into the drivetrain and a 1,000.00 into the body and touch up's you can have a sweet ride that fast, dependable and looks great for less than 1/2 the price of a new Gen 2. Good luck, Todd
The Gen1 engines last forever, really
I put 185K on mine, and I drove it hard all the time. The rest of the truck fell apart around the engine, but the engine was sound throughout. The weak parts on the 93 were the transmissions, if it hasn't been rebuilt, it should be soon. 7K for 113K is not too bad, at least in this area (Maryland). 100K mile trucks are going for $9K, and selling left and right.
And you'll learn to hate the paint.... no clearcoat, and requires constant cleaning to look halfway decent.
150K miles, I would consider a high miler. Anything under that is in good shape. I took the 185K mile engine out of my '93 a few weeks ago, and the block was still in great shape. I had worn down the cam lobes, though. So I got a new (used) engine, with 75K miles, and swapped it in... with a Crane cam and bassani headers.
