Angry Paint peeling off '01

Quality is Job WHAT?
Hey guys, I love the way this truck performs, but its starting to be hard to find one bit of quality built into this truck. My truck is garage kept, waxed monthly, and only has 6K miles on it and I have to deal with damn paint peeling off the ground effects!!?!! I am sure Ford will offer to paint only the ground effect, and then in 2 years when it fades I will have body parts that don't match colors because once you repaint only one part, it never matches.
Now I can add this to the other problems the truck has had in 6K miles: Ford's mis-engineered intake system that sucks down more oil then you can imagine, cracked foglights, metal bar that wore through drivers seat, posi rear that seems to not even work right, etc.
Ford's quality has made a huge turn for the worse in the last few years, and even all their special vehicles may not be enough to keep me, a 35 year customer, around to buy more Ford's.

They will most likely just replace the ground effects. They come prepaintedand cost about $159 per a cab side, so it would be cheaper to ureplace than repaint.

That bites! I've got 14K on my '01 and haven't had any one of those problems. In fact this baby still looks like new and I get compliments on it nearly every day.
Mine is silver. Maybe you chose the wrong color!!!!!!

Sad to say, but the paint shop in OTP isnt as good as the one in Norfolk. I'm glad mine is white to hide the orange peel. You will see better quality at the Norfolk plant as my old '97 had better paint. No offense to the workers there, just there's something wrong with the paint shop there.

Ok, I'll give you one free lesson.

How do you know it's Fords fault that you have paint problems?

I have over 26,000 miles on an '01. I have only had driving lights replaced once. NO other problems. I don't consider myself to have a hummingbird a$$ either. I don't understand the seat
problems. I know I don't drag my backside across the side bolster to get into the truck. This probably helps to keep from ruining ANY seat.

I'll bet you didn't know that if your truck was damaged in transit, and various parts were repainted, and the repairs did not total over $700, Nobody has to disclose it to you before you buy it new.

I hope you get everything straightened out.

Well, 78 silver tbird -paint faded and fell off in 3 years. 86 red F150- bed paint had cracks and faded in 4 years, 91 black Mustang LX 5.0 - black clearcoat except they forgot the clearcoat, then when the dealer clearcoated it, the first time I washed it I washed the clear off, 93 red Lightning- bad fading in 3 years, had to be waxed every month. I'm sure the paint was thin on that one. Now a 2001 Black L with pits in the clear.. BUT mechanically they were all good vehicles, so is the 01 so far. My Firebird and Camaro had buttons breaking and falling off, seats came apart, bulbs always going out, fuses going out, big time rattle traps, but the paint was great. So what ya gonna do?
