Thumbs up

If it's not lowered get the 295/45/20's.

If it's lowered get the 295/40/20's.

The 50 series tires look OK on a Expedition but on a Lightning they're a bit too beefy. That's just my opinion.

I agree 100% with rob on that one. I have the 40 series tires with a 3inch drop.

Uhm... well you are going the wrong way to keep stock size there... if that is indeed what you are trying to accomplish..

295/45 ZR/18 is stock...

If you are bumping up to 20's you will want a size of (or around)

295/35 ZR20 slightly smaller than stock
295/40 ZR20 little taller than stock
305/35 ZR20 slightly smaller than stock

Stock tires are about 722.5mm tall.
305/50/?r20's are about 813mm tall! (that's more than 3.5 inches bigger)

Hope this helps a little...

soap,

We agree on a lot of things. Usually off line though

Mr. beefcake ( version 2.0 ) is right about the ride height but the difference bewteen a 295/40/20 & stock is minimal. It's basically like switching from a 3.73 gear to a 3.55 gear. Expect your speedo to be off by 2 to 3 mph. The biggest difference here would be ride quality. A 40 series tire rides almost as good as stock but a 35 series tire leaves something to be desired, especially on a heavy truck.

Again, just my opinion.

P.S. I just noticed we have FOUR guys on this thread with Shaker hoods

no shaker hood here, but i think that smaller tires look better, and also make the wheels look bigger IMO. If I were you, i'd go with the 35's.

thanks Vinnie thats just what i needed to see,im going with the 295/40's,and for your information the only reason that there are so many shaker hoods in this thread is because we have the best taste in trucks and goodies!!

crazyfoo arent yours 22'' if i were getting 22'' i would go with the 35's but i think thats to little of a tire for 20's
