Drag Racing this Past Weekend

It was so cool George "Alphadoggy" flew in from Calfornia to Hawaii to visit his son Robin and met me at Hawaii Raceway Park Saturday May 25, 2002. Last year I met Alphadoggy for the first time and it was the first time I took my Lightning Drag Racing. We had a great visit! Alphadoggy even got to meet Nosdog from NLOC who made 1 run and Ultimate Surfa from NLOC who made 3 runs. This year I was lucky the day before I purchased ET Street Slicks and 16 x 10 rims and a stock tonneau cover. The conditions of the track were very poor and the weather was so himid and hot. Everyone was sweating and a lot of us were not wearing shirts because of the heat. My Lightning made 8 runs the best run my Lightning went a 13:65.
I couldn't believe how dirty my rear fender wells got. Since this is the first time I've run slicks and I used a 1/2 gallon on VHT which Ultimate Surfa donated to me (thank you buddy) which really helped me with traction and hardly any wheel spin. I spent 3 hours cleaning the under fender wells and rear body kit. I used Bug and Tar Remover first that didn't work as well I used Liquid Wrench then I degreased the fender wells and rear body kit after that I waxed and polished the body parts. What do you other Drag Racers do to keep and clean all that burnt melted rubber on your Lightning???

Thank you in advance, djy

Hey Dave! Sorry i don't have the post on hand, but if you search for "cleaning wheel wells" I'm sure you'll get something. I remember seeing a post on it awhile ago on what people use to get the icky sticky rubber off. GL

Sounds like you had fun.

Some guys use PAM on the fenders to help clean crap off...

I used photoshop to tweak your picture. Too bad there wasnt more light...
