Ford Concept car auction
Serious Question
Does anyone on the board have access to someone who can definitely say yes or no if any of these vehicles can be registered legally?
I realize that some of them were only set up to drive on to the podium of the Detroit Auto Show or some such, but I also believe that some were probably totally driveable on the street.
I am really serious about bidding on the Blackwood as I feel it will have the least value to anyone other than a Blackwood owner and possibly I might be the only driver that would consider buying the prototype as opposed to the other beautiful concept cars.
On the other hand, even if I could get it for, say, $10K, that is a real expensive paper weight if it cannot be registered. Nice source of spare parts, though, at that price I guess.

Bill, I would have to say fat chance on getting that for 10K. I do not know about registering the vehicles, but if you could get that Baja Excursion to run, it would be a awesome off road trailer king.
Bill,
I think you would have a better chance of Snow for the 4th of July in Atlanta than picking that up for 11K
There is a Huge Collector Market for these Cars, I Think Christys is very Consertative in their estimates.

Bill,
These concepts are definately not able to be registered. A few reasons why - No crash or emissions testing, no VIN numbers, no bill of sale.
HOWEVER, here was MY plan. Say you buy the baja Excursion (DEFINATLEY an awesome truck), and happen to make it driveable. THEN, buy a WRECKED Excursion from a junkyard. Register the Baja as THAT Excursion. Titles can be converted from salvage, in alot of cases, it just takes money and a contact!
I thought about doing that with the Mach 3 myself... I could pick up a wrecked '92 'Stang for NOTHING... Think I could win the car for $50k??? Hehehe...
