i think hes talking about putting two plate type things on top and under 2 or 3 springs and bolting them together to make a sort of traction device....ill look for the pic

J15BIG, they go on the front half of the leafs, not the back. On the front half they clamp the leafs together makeing them stiffer and reduce spring wrap and help out with traction. Watch this illustration on this site and you'll see the spring wrap up and let go. Tracion bars help with this and the spring clamps do to. The only difference is the clamps arn't as riggid and spring movement is much better. I think a good slapper bar set up correctly would make a good combo. See the arrow for the direction your going and how the springs wrap up.

I ordered a set of the lakewood leaf clamps from carparts.com and they were having JC Whiney fill the order. Today about two weeks after I placed the order I get a cancelation notice from JC Whitney saying they could not fill it. Anyone know where I can get some store bought clamps?

Thanks.

Twisted, come on now it wont take you but a few minutes to cut em out and drill a couple of holes. Get you some grade 8 bolts or I would bet money that you will loose them with one good hook. I here you've been leaving black marks in my town. hehehe
When are you going to make it to Irvington?

I made mine from 1/4"x 1-1/2" steel bar with 3/8-16 x 2" stainless bolts with stainless flat washers & lock nuts. All purchased at Lowes Hardware.

A metal cutting blade for the skill saw and a 3/8" drill bit do the fab work. A little black spray paint pretty them up.
