It's in your owners manual. I think 14-16 qts.

When I had a quick-lube shop pump my original fluid out to replace it with Redline's synthetic D4 fluid, it took 15 qts before the fluid coming out matched the color of the fresh going in. The trans is completely stock.

I just bought the truck (used) and it didn't have the manual in it.

I ended up using 16 quarts, so I think I'm pretty good.

I obtained a DVD that has the factory service manuals, wiring diagrams, TSB's, etc. so now I'll know the stuff without asking in the future.

It's 18.9 quarts, but there's a few quarts in the clutches and wormtrail you'll never get out, 16 sounds about right. I'd check it on your next 2 or 3 fill-ups, just to be sure...

I see your new to the board. Welcome

Incase you didnt know, Factory_Tech (Gregg) is the transmision guru on this board. Repairs 4r100's for a living.

If he says 18.9 but 16 sounds ok and to check it every so often, thats what I'd do.
