If you must get a 600, go with the Kawa. It's the most comfortable bike around. However, bikes are so well made, refined, and light nowadays, that I would suggest not even wasting your time on a 600. Trust me, you'll out grow it. Get a litter bike. The June issue of MotorCyclist and Cycle World have comparos of the top 4. Suzuki of course gets the nod because of the power but, for street and track use, the Yamaha R1 is the better bike. Even with the power over the 600s, it's not overwhelming, even for a beginner.

MY first bike.

My first bike was a GSXR-750...back in 98... it was new...

wasn't too much that could touch me, cept my buddies ducatti... and that was only if I didn't spray...

all I can say, is BE CAREFUL... respect the bikes until you get some experience... I remember cranking on my gsxr the first time in first at twenty... started off slow, and then at 40, the front wheel gently lifted off the ground about 6 inches until I shifted at 70, then dumped down and cam back up until baout 90, where is settled down... the gsxr's don't develop power until 7k or so (redline was 14k)... so it kind of sneaks up on you... tons of fun, but scary... pulling a wheely doing 80 on the highway by accident is no fun, believe me...I did it while putting a vette in it's place and almost killed myself...

just my experiences...

oh yah, I LOVED that bike... I hooked up a 40hp shot of nos... only sprayed 5 times before I sold it though... did it near the end of the season and wanted a new snowmobile, so... it was f&!#@$% fast though... not much would touch me... even my wealthy uncle's F40 got left in my tracks... (til about 150, then he started to catch up)

EDIT - the gsxr was terrible for long rides... not a cruising bike... anything over 30 minutes started to suck...

Buy what YOU like the best. At your skill level it ain't gonna matter and comfort is nice to have...

The new Kawi 636's are coming on strong. If you HAVE to go bigger, try a twin...

Hey guys, do you think if I go to some of the dealerships they would let me test drive a bike?

Yes I do have dirt bike expierence. I've roade a dirt bike since I was about 5 untill I was around 13 or 14 and that was when I got a new Honda 300EX fourtrax. I'm only 18 right now.

Should I go to a Kawsaki dealership and a Honda dealership both to atleast sit on the bike to see which one I like better or anything? Thanks

Only if that differance means having more then three times the money to throw at a cruiser bike dressed up in sport bike clothes.

Get the Kaw and spend the rest on your truck

You'll get a zillion different opinions on what bike to get as your first bike.

I have a '99 ZX-6R and I love it. Of course a Gixxer 1K would smoke me but so what, the 6R is plenty fast to scare the crapola outta me.

Which ever kinda bike you pick you'll be happy.

For forums check out www.esportbike.com that is the best forums I have found for sportbikes.
