coils ??????uk owners need help
us lads in the uk are having big problem with coils,i have had 6 coil changed and another friend has just had 2 coil gone down
realy need some help here please
are there any other types we could try out or are we stuck with ford parts????

Ford considers coils an expendable like spark plugs or brake pads. Some have had failures, most have had none. I just replaced all of mine at 62,000 miles and my truck ran .1 quicker. They do short out and fail if you wash your engine a lot and fill up the spark plug hole with water. It shorts out the coil pak. I know of no after market coil paks available at this time although there were some rumors at FFW Houston that someone was going to make some. Watch the water in the holes.

Btw, mine have 1 year and 27,950 miles on them with no problems so far. When I changed my plugs
, I had a big tube of NAPA's dielectric grease and I placed a 'glob' of the grease on the coil boot end before I pushed it back down onto the plug. I believe this helps keep moisture out of the boot and its contact spring.
