Silver-Bolt,
Great Pics!

What kind of springs are you using? and did the sway bars and bushings make the ride harsher?

How much did the sways improve handling?

Silver-Bolt,

Just finished reading your thoughts on the bushings. Nice having the search feature again.

Do you recall the price on the replacement set of OEM bushings used for cannibal purposes?

Did you use a hydraulic press to pop the bushings out or can you be 'creative' with a propane torch, drill, hammer, screwdriver/chisel, and wire brush? (Did the entire suspension on my former mustang that way, it SUCKED, however the result was great)

waiting on a call back from JC Whitney and MAC Springs on the Prothane kit pricing and availability.

Thanks,

Bob

If I remeber right the extra set of factory bushings came to about $75. I used a low heat propane torch on the new bushing to heat the inside sleave. As it gets hot the rubber around it begins to liquify. You can the push the center sleave out. Becare once it starts to move it comes out fast. Launched the first one about 15ft. Once you get the center out the rubber will come out easily. On the lower bushings the inner sleaves have end caps on them. Lightly clamp one end in a vise and use a pipe wrench on the other. Work it back and forth and the cap will come off.

If you buy extra factory bushings you don't have to be too careful about removing the stock ones. Still best done with a press. Reassembly with the urethane is very easy. Before you remove the existing bushings make sure you take as many measurements as possible. There are no possitive stops to prevent over/under insertion of the new bushings back into the A-arms.

I am using all Hotchkis suspension at this time. The ride is much stiffer but not what I would consider abusive.

See if I can dig out the P/N's for the factory bushings.

IMO, not much. But, that's not the whole story. See
this post and I wrote up my opinions on them at the track.
