Newbie w/Questions

Hey all:
Have spent the past two weeks looking through thread after thread to find any and all info on my latest toy.
I just bought a “99” L (#208 made 4/99) and had no idea what the truck was but went for a used Harley Truck and drove it ant this one…very simple decision.
I have had the truck for two weeks and have a bunch of questions.
The truck was almost completely stock, only a K&N flat style air filter was added, it has just at 30K miles.
First thing I did was start looking for a chip for it….ordered a Diablo Sport.
Installed the chip and the “L” died on the 3rd corner at very low RPM’s with smooth roads. Later found that could/probably was attributed to the dealer filling it up with 87-octane gas…later filled up with 93 Octane.
The truck runs strong, shift firm and chirps from 2nd to third.
I did notice some (Pre-detonation??? Marble rattle)??? At high RPM’s between 2nd and 3rd.
Added 14 gallons of gas to the almost empty tank and a bottle of NOS boost to the tank…seems “ok” now.
Enough History….questions?
I am running the truck at the Ennis MotorPlex tomorrow night (Friday 5/17).
I have no idea what it will run with the chip and K&N on the F1’s.
I DO know I want MORE….
Thinking of adding:
2# pulley
90MM MAF
Chip swap or reburn to Diablo

Here are the questions…
1) Rumor has it Diablo chips are burning motors with more regularity that others…Fact or Fiction?
2) Want to make it faster but also keep mods simple as to put them back to stock in the even that the “L” needs to go to the shop…don’t want to “kill” my “L”, no interest in NOS, but have heard that a 2# pulley is good for both track and daily driving…Fact or Fiction?, how long to swap?
3) Do I need/ should I have an Oil Breather Cap?
4) Is the 90MM MAF a good way to go, or is there a better all around option?
5) What can I expect in quarter times with it now (chip and K&N)?
6) What SHOULD I expect with chip (what brand),K&N, MAF, 2# pulley?
7) Reliability?
Sorry for the long list but the only stupid questions are the ones not asked.

1) dont worry about it...just make sure your tuner know whats you have and if you want, tell him you want a safe tune
2)2lb are good for daily driving, 4lbs IMO are ok to for daily driving. the swap should take about 30min-hour depending on your skills(those time may not be accurate its been a while)
3)You dont need one but I would get one. Be sure your tuner knows you have it though because it requires a reburn for the change in crankcase pressure
4)I would do it if i had a 99/00. Just extra breathing that the truck will thank you for.
5)depending on location(alt., temp, humid.) and traction probably around 13.4 or better. conditions are a big thing so there no way of knowing.
6)dont quite know what u mean but same as #5 i guess
7)Good tune, not too much boost, and proper maintaince should give you a pretty reliable machine.

Good Luck

What Joe said..................although, I run a 5lb pulley with no problems and 27,600 miles in one year of ownership. I think that my use of a synthetic oil(see sig.) has helped.
