hmmm,,,03 cobra??

Wow,, just got an offer for my truck today and it wasn't even for sale,, guess having it parked out in front of a store is sorta good if i ever wanted to sell it. Well, after sorta brushing off the offer rather easily, it really did make me think about how happy I would be with an 03 cobra convertible,, lots of people would say its a bad car for the winter, but what i have is a bad truck for the winter so there is not much difference. With all the dealerships in detroit area that are svt certified i'm sure i could get it at least x-plan. Makes me wonder if my chrome 20's would fit on the cobra

I'm sure many of you have or have not had the same thoughts about the new mustang, its amazing how tempting it becomes when an idea gets put into your head. I have always loved trucks over cars, but now for the first time a car looks very much so attractive. For now i am still never going to sell or trade in my L.

~Toast ( another pointless post, just sorta flattered of the offer i got for my truck

Yes:

My dealer emailed me a brochure for the new Cobra, and the Mach One. They are going to be sweet *** cars.

I wish someone would make me an offer...

Your wheels wouldn't fit on the Cobra, though.

In another two months my '99 L will be 3 years old and I still average at least one offer per month. Just yesterday a lady walked up to me in a parking lot and asked if I would be willing to sell it to her so that she could give it to her son for a graduation present. She said all he can talk about is how much he wants a Lightning. I thanked her and told her that it may be for sale someday but not today.

Regarding pics of the '03 Cobra, it's been in all the major auto magazines (June issues of Car & Driver and Automobile, March 25 issue of AutoWeek, and I'm sure in Motor Trend too) and if you missed it there, you can probably find it in one of these mag's websites. Plus, the June issues of C&D and Automobile are still on the news stands.

They all thought it was great car, and I'm sure it is, but I'm still in love with my truck and I ain't sleeping with nobody else anytime soon.

Mike

My buds 03 Cobra will be in June 10th, thought he told me sticker is $34k and change, he is buying it on the D plan (same as A) and is paying $31k + TTT.

He said the only thing he didn't care for was that they dropped the chrome wheel option.

Went and priced them at two different dealerships. C&C in Horsham,PA and they want (for a convertible now) $52 K.
At Downs Ford in Toms River,NJ they want $48 K for the same vehicle.
WTF, it was bad enough when they jacked up the price by $2K for the L because it was a limited edition vehicle (just another excuse to rape the customer), now they tack on $5K for the hard top and $10K for the convertible with the same story. What a bunch of BS artists. As much as I love the idea of having that awesome car, the finances won't allow for it. So I went and updated from a 99 Black L to an 02 Silver L. Have some minor issues to work out (like, where is my owner's manual and my exhaust tips are about 1/16 of an inch from the molding). Otherwise I'm happy as a pig in sh**.

Many SVT dealers are now sold out of 03 Cobra's from what my dealer told me. If that's the case, you can bet none of them will be willing to x-plan any of them. If anyone is interested, John Nolan Ford still has 1 03 Cobra coupe left and they are selling it at sticker with no markup.

The newest MM&FF has an article of the 2003 Cobra. It seems like they got a racing version for pics though, they said it had a cage in it.

The '03 Cobra has me wondering too...

BLACKBOLT.... We met at C&C about a year ago. As a former owner of a 94 Cobra coupe and a 98 Cobra 'vert, I'd love another Cobra BUT,,,,,,

The problem that I am facing is that I LOVE MY 01 L! It's been dead reliable (So far... only 4500 miles) By 4500 miles on my two Cobra's had numerous "no start conditions" that my dealer (C&C couldn't diagnose). Burning oil like crazy on the both of them.

Couldn't keep a transmission under the 98 Vert (3 transmissions .... one failed after a 3 week wait for parts from Ford on the way home from the shop. Needed new throw out bearings almost monthy on the 98.

Ford bought back the 98 Cobra Vert....I still miss it, but I don't miss the problems.

So the sticker for a 03 Cobra is about 34k?

I had 2 99 Cobras and as far as problems go, the only one I had was with the vert and I was snaping rear half shafts after installing the blower. I have about 75k in options with my company and will be selling them and am looking for something with street *****. I have watched the L sprout into a untouchable street truck. 03 Cobra...........eeehhhhh, I would miss the cargo space but it does look good. It comes down to price for me. What would you do in my place? Lightning or Cobra? Also for anyone interested, I drove a SVT Focus and was quite impressed by it. You do get alot of bang for the buck. Inside felt solid, gauges were laid out nice, car had plenty of power to move. Its more of a younger crowd car but like I said was still impressed. But what can I say, I drive a truck that sits 9" above the ground from stock trim, so anything seems like it has power

The offer made on my L was an offer i would not be willing to sell for ,, as in it was more then what I paid for the truck on x-plan,, of course i have some nice mods to the truck which the guy knew about from listening to my truck when i drove by his place of work all the time. What i got to say,, ,,, Long live the new cobra,,, and longer live the New L's,,, the most tight lipped truck i've heard from in a while,, who knows,, three valve head, four valve heads,, 023 or 04 I swear,, me or anyone else on the board have any idea what the new L's will have to offer,,, talk about playing poker.
