oil fill on lightning

Question oil fill on lightning

is this right?i changed my oil on my 2001 lightning and it took a new oil filter and 7 qts of oil.and it is on the top hole on the dip stick.right on the full mark.

I would drain 1.5 quarts out before driving it. You do not have to run the engines at the full mark. 1/2 or 3/4 mark on the stick at the most. 7 is way to much.

A full crankcase is 6 qts. This usually registers at about the 1/2-way mark on the dipstick. 7 qts is too much and some of that 'extra' oil will end up being forced into the intake adaptor, throttle body, and rubber intake boot area. After you've gone into a boost situation a time or two, loosen the clamp at the th. body/rubber boot and slide the boot down and off. There will probably be oil seen in that area.

what rubber hose do ya remove to get the oil out?ya got a pic?is the throttle body the one with the butterfly in it?when ya open it up?the one where the air filter boot that is connected to the maf is?

Sorry, I don't have any pics but you're in the right area. I f you remove the boot completely, be sure to get those two tubes back in their respective 'holes' securely.
