Oil Fill Capacity

What is the correct motor oil fill capacity of this truck? The manual says 6.0 Quarts, but some have said 5.5 Quarts prevents oil from entering the air intake. What should I follow?

I use 5.5 also. Just keep and eye on it a little more often than usual until you get it broke in. You may use a little during the break in period.

Do what the manual says. 6 quarts is correct.

Others put 5.5 quarts because they seem to think it keeps the oil out of the intake.

For some reason I never had that problem

Fill to halfway on the dip-stick. It will Keep most of the oil out of the throttle body. 2nd it keeps your crank from slapping the oil. That adds stress on the crank and robs hp. Especially when you take off hard from the lights. You do not need 6 qts or 5.5 in your engine. Halfway is just fine.

Six qts brings mine mid-way on the dipstick. Don't overfill it.

Oil fill capacity

I have to say that with just over 10000 miles on my 01L, I have taken SVT's advice and kept it at 5.5 qts. I can also say that I find little or no oil in the intake tube any more. I do keep an extra eye on the level though. With the Mobil One 10wx30 I don't seem to be using any oil. When I went with the 6 qts that the manual stated, I found a little oil in the intake and called SVT since my dealer had no ideas on how to fix it. Both SVT and now my dealer said to keep it at 5.5. And so it goes..
